THE KERRY RECORD ON HEATHCARE #1
In honor of Kerry's visit on Wednesday to Rochester for a private event to talk about healthcare, please check back for information on Kerry's real record on heathcare.
Kerry Flip-Flopped on Health Coverage:
In 1994, Kerry Said Democrats Push Health Care Too Much. “[Kerry] said Kennedy and Clinton’s insistence on pushing health care reform was a major cause of the Democratic Party’s problems at the polls.” (Joe Battenfeld, “Jenny Craig Hit With Sex Harassment Complaint - By Men,” Boston Herald, 11/30/94)
But Now Kerry Calls Health Care His “Passion.” “Sen. John Kerry says expanding coverage is ‘my passion.’” (Susan Page, “Health Specifics Could Backfire On Candidates,” USA Today, 6/2/03)

Congressman Jim Ramstad on Kerry's healthcare plan:
"John Kerry can talk about healthcare when he visits Minnesota, but he can't expect Minnesotans to think he has much credibility on the issue after he pledged to repeal President Bush's Medicare reform bill and then denied he ever said it. The President's Medicare Bill provides the first prescription drug benefit in the history of the Medicare program, and Kerry's misleading rhetoric ignores the priorities of 40 million seniors who will now be guaranteed affordable prescription drugs."
"John Kerry's campaign trail talk about lowering health care costs hasn't translated into action--Kerry has opposed medical liability reform to lower health care costs at least ten times. Those were ten missed chances to curb the frivolous lawsuits that are costing Americans as much as $108 billion each year. Trial lawyers have given more money to Kerry than any other senator over the past 15 years, and his willingness to put his donors' interests above providing affordable healthcare for Minnesota families is making it difficult for our state to trust him on this issue."
