ANOTHER BAD PRESS DAY FOR SENATOR DAYTON
Senator Dayton received another thrashing in today's Pioneer Press:

Sen. Dayton said it's "time for people to stop lying. It's Un-American and un-patriotic and needs to end now."
He is correct. Thus, Sen. Dayton, I implore you, please quit your lying. You (and your liberal cohorts) have provided no proof that the administration knowingly falsified statements pre- and post-war. Please provide that information if you have it.
Otherwise, Sen. Dayton, you are un-American and un-patriotic, and it needs to end now. This will not be forgotten come re-election time.

Very few sitting senators are as much of an embarrassment to the people of our country as Ted Kennedy and Barbara Boxer. And, now, our own Mark Dayton has joined them.

Sen. Dayton not only embarrassed himself, but also the voters of Minnesota in his outburst against Condoleezza Rice and his questioning of her integrity.
What does it cost Dayton to be critical? A critic needs no background, no degree, no expertise or qualifications. In fact, it takes very little effort, investment or time to be critical.
President Roosevelt once said: "It is not the critic who counts, not the person who points out where the doer of deeds could have done better. The credit belongs to the person who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust, sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs and comes up short again; who knows the great enthusiasm, the devotion and spends himself or herself in a worthy cause."
That quote hardly applies to Dayton. Instead, he pulled out his workers when a terrorist threat came his way. No one in Washington, D.C., or here in Minnesota could understand his action.
Maybe that tells us something.

Sen. Dayton, who made headlines badmouthing President Bush's Iraq policy and the confirmation of Condoleezza Rice, finds his approval ratings plummeting. To counter this, he has hired former Pioneer Press media critic Brian Lambert as his senior media adviser.
For Dayton, this should be an ideal melding of the minds given the fact that Lambert has declared that the major media are not biased. With that clear, insightful thinking, and the future guidance it will doubtless afford, Lambert should easily enable the senator to make rapid strides in his "Ted Kennedy wannabe" efforts.

I was embarrassed for Minnesota at the grandstanding by Sen. Dayton during the confirmation hearing for Condoleezza Rice. As yet another talented minority nominated for a position of influence and power in the U.S. government by President Bush, she deserved to be treated with respect and dignity.
Dayton is way out of his league in all categories in comparison to her, and he should learn to leave well enough alone, even with his bid for re-election forthcoming.
