STAR TRIBUNE FAILS TO MENTION POSSIBLE POLITICAL AGENDA OF FINNEY
"Former St. Paul Police Chief William Finney told the Star Tribune on Thursday night that there is an ongoing investigation into possible bribery in St. Paul City Hall. Finney said that Deputy Mayor Dennis Flaherty came to him when Finney was still chief with 'allegations that some city employees were doing some inappropriate things and may be taking some bribes.'" Source: Star Tribune, February 4, 2005
What the Star Tribune failed to mention in this story is that Finney is supporting Chris Coleman for Mayor:
"Former Mayor George Latimer and former Police Chief William Finney were listed as co-chairs on the filing, which officially establishes a campaign committee for Coleman, who left office earlier this year after serving six years as the 2nd Ward council member." Source: Chris Coleman for Mayor website.
I am not defending Mayor Randy Kelly nor challenging the accuracy of Finney's statements.
I strongly believe the Star Tribune should have mention Finney is supporting Kelly's opponent for mayor and any media reports detailing an ongoing investigation about bribery in St. Paul City Hall would certainly help Coleman's candidacy.
