WHO WILL LEAD THE DFL?

Now that DFL Party Chair Mike Erlandson has officially announced that he will not run for re-election, who will be the next chair of the Minnesota DFL?

Brian Melendez, who is chair of the Minneapolis DFL, has announced his candidacy. Former DFL State Representative Betty Folliard is also running and has been actively campaigning for the last month.

Melendez supported Howard Dean for president and Folliard was community director of John Kerry's campaign in Minnesota.

Since Dean has the DNC chair's race locked up, supporters of his failed presidential campaign like Melendez may have a slight advantage with DFL activists over a Kerry supporter like Folliard.
