65% OF MINNESOTANS OPPOSE SAME-SEX MARRIAGES
This is why DFL House members don't want to go to Grand Rapids to discuss gay marriage:
"A poll conducted for an offshoot of the Minnesota Family Council showed that 65 percent of Minnesotans surveyed oppose legalizing same-sex marriage in the state and nearly that percentage would support a constitutional ban on such unions.
The highest level of opposition was among Republicans, with 92 percent saying they oppose same-sex marriages in Minnesota, compared with 42 percent of DFLers and 63 percent of independents." Source: Star Tribune, March 16, 2005

Polling for Tom Prichard's MFC as a client - hardly an unbiassed poll. It depends on how the question is worded.
The Bachmann amendment not only bans gay marriages - but also stops gays from protecting their relationships in any way - interferes with inheritance rights and hospital visitation.

Excellent point. Surely that poll cannot be judged as any kind of a reliable barometer of public sentiment...
..so I'm sure that no one will have any qualms about putting the matter to final rest by giving the public the opportunity to prove Mr. Prichard's group wrong.
"..stops gays from protecting their relationships in any way"
Huh. I must have missed the clauses that invalidate US contract law and living wills in my first reading.
