I'm sure that's absolutely true. It was only the DFL making more offers sooner and with more concessions. Taking the initiative, making the moves, offering the compromises. It's all the damn minority DFL's fault.
Speaker Sviggum's also a damn reliable source for neutral, objective opinions on the shutdown and the causes behind it. If this is all you can find, MDE, you ought to stop blogging. Find a real opinion and we'll talk.
The only person making concessions is Pawlenty. He put his ass on the line with the cigarette fee, and paid dearly with the election of Ron Carey as chair for the Minnesota GOP. There was no counter offer by the DFL, just the same tired offer of an income tax hike.
The DFL finally pulled their massive job killer off the table. In kind Pawlenty pulled the Racino, the unicameral legislature, and vouchers. Now we wait for Enteza and Johnson to drop their demands for state sponsored health care increases.
Entenza begged the GOPers to pull the Racino, they did. As a result, they won't have enough revenue to pay for the lifting of the MNCARE cap, which "outraged" Entenza, according to the Strib.
Yes, yes, how silly of me, how could I forget? Gov. Tim Pawlenty, the great compromiser. Vetoing the Transportation Bill, and holding to the no-new-tax pledge, a suicide pact for Minnesota's strong tradition of a high quality of life. Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who wouldn't have the votes to pass a racino in the GOP-controlled House. While Democrats are just off the deep end with their UNREASONABLE demands, such as adequate investment in education and health care.
Gosh, what will those DFLers do next? Why, Mr. Mayo, do you think they hate America?
It's all the damn minority DFL's fault.
Huh? They control the Senate and are just two votes from controlling the House. Hardly the basis to be whining about being a poor minority.
holding to the no-new-tax pledge, a suicide pact for Minnesota's strong tradition of a high quality of life.
Read that as - the DFL's strong tradition of high taxes in life. Sucks to see a tradition end, doesn't it?
