MDE'S RUMOR RECORD
Since Minnesota Democrats Exposed is a blog dedicated to a truthful discussion on the activities, statements, and tactics of Minnesota Democrats, I have not dedicated many posts to rumors.
According to my math, I have a total of 992 posts on Minnesota Democrats Exposed.
Of the 992 posts, I would classify just four posts as rumors.
1. CHRIS COLEMAN FOR MAYOR?
2. IS DAYTON HAVING SECOND THOUGHTS ABOUT RUNNING FOR RE-ELECTION?
3. SOMETHING FROM THE RUMOR MILL
4. ENTENZA HIRES PRIVATE EYE TO INVESTIGATE HATCH
1. I was correct with my information on Chris Coleman running for mayor of St. Paul. Coleman filed campaign paperwork on December 14, 2005 and he listed William Finney as one of his campaign co-chairs.
2. I was correct with my information on Senator Mark Dayton having second thoughts about running for re-election. A week after my post, Dayton announced he would not run for re-election.
3. Regardless of what Wetterling has said, she has plenty of time to announce she is running for Congress. It is too early to call this rumor incorrect. The information on Rybak is open to debate.
4. This information was just posted in the last few days and I have received conflicting reports on its accuracy. Once again, it is too early to call this rumor incorrect.
Due to my strict policy of using sources, my record of posting accurate rumors is very impressive.
I will remind you that I can't call Mike Hatch, Matt Entenza, or Patty Wetterling to confirm or deny my information and they would certainly not contact me either.
I will continue to take responsible risks when deciding to post rumors on Minnesota Democrats Exposed.

Wow, Dr. Jack Shepard, the living legend. When are you coming back to Minnesota?
He can't. He'll be arrested.
All I can say is wow. A .998 batting average (as you claim).
I will try to keep being a pain in the ass.
Your 2/4 confirmed rumors isn't the greatest record. The way you stated the Wetterling rumor, you made it sound like it was going to happen any day, wasn't that more than a month ago? As an "insider" for the DFL Senate race, I have to say that your rumor sounds like wishful thinking for a lot of DFLers. Let's just say that if she actually had plans to do that, I'd know about it by now. I do wish she would do that, but realistically the next week or so would be the optimum time to make that announcement.
I'll give you another two weeks for the Hatch/Entenza thing to be proven correct. Again, if the person who told you about it is credible and wants the information out there, I can think of a dozen places where he or she can do it. Until that time, it is still 100% rumor.
I'll be the first to say that you do have good record of blowing open small scandals. Some of the stuff is wholly without merit though (like McCollum being involved because her condo in St. Paul is next to her CoS's). None of the stuff you have uncovered amounts to much of anything though. While it may seem like a big deal to you and your groupies, I honestly want to know what real damage you have done to the DFL?
"I honestly want to know what real damage you have done to the DFL?"
Point well taken.
It's hard to score points by exposing lefty's for backstabbing, lying, money grubbing panderers when everyone already takes that for granted.
But it makes us laugh anyway.
I'm curious whether Towle's source is from Hatch's office. That's my guess.
The Wetterling rumor was unfounded. It will be interesting to see what happens with the Hatch/Etenza rumor.
Would you be willing to do an email interview with me, MDE. I won't ask you puff questions like Mitch, but I'm sure you are up to the challenge.
lloydletta: I am up to the challenge. I certainly hope your interest for an interview is to learn more about my blogging rather than trying to expose me.
Please email me to discuss the details.
MDE
wouldn't it be possible to identify him through IP addresses and the like? I think a clever hacker should be able to do it.
There's this from Towle quoting the TOS from your domain proxy registry:
You understand and agree that DBP has the absolute right and power, in its sole discretion and without any liability to You whatsoever, to either: (i) close Your account (which means You then become the Registrant of the domain name registration); (ii) reveal Your name and personal information that You provided to DBP when required by law, in the good faith belief that such action is necessary in order to conform to the edicts of the law, or to comply with a legal process served upon DBP; (iii) resolve any and all third party claims, whether threatened or made, arising out of Your use of a domain name registered by DBP on Your behalf; or (iv) take any other action DBP deems necessary.....
EY: I don't buy your justifaction of your anonymity.
EY: I wasn't aware I needed to justify a right granted to me in the U.S. Constitution.
Mr. Towle's legal advice is almost as accurate as his spelling.
Is this the interview?
Nope.... I've emailed you a question - and would like to interview you offline - then write it up.
If you worked for a company and signed a contract about non-disclosure of company secrets, but then started an anonymous blog and disclosed company secrets, the company would have every right to pierce the veil.
In this case, you agreed to the terms of the domain proxy service. It's a matter of interpretation whether you violated the TOS - but this is contract law.
The constitutional first amendment talks about government not violating freedom of speech.
Looks like Towle found the moron he was looking for to do his legwork for him.
Eva Young...discussing a violation of "work rules"...well she is an expert!
Give me a break, Swiftee.... I was comparing this to a contract with the Domain Proxy service - which Towle posted.
This isn't work rules - it's a contract.
Anonymous speech, especially anonymous political speech, is completely protected, as long as it is an individual exercising their right to speech. MDE's registrar basically needs a court order to revel who he is, and frankly since the USSC has ruled about anonymous political speech already, I don't see a reason why any court could order that his identity be revealed. Besides that, what would stop MDE from using a fake name to register the domain?
