WETTERLING PROUD OF EIGHT POINT LOSS
Only Patty Wetterling would be proud of losing an election by over 30,000 votes.
"Though she lost by eight percent of the vote the last time she squared off against Mark Kennedy in a congressional election, Patty Wetterling said Sunday she believes a Senate race would have different results.
'I got 46 percent of the vote in a conservative district. I outperformed John Kerry,' she said.
'Now I'll get support statewide.'" Source: Fergus Falls Daily Journal, August 9, 2005

I think any democrat would be proud of only loosing by eight points in the most conservative district in Minnesota. When was the last time a republican came that close to beating McCollum?
The most conservative district is actually the 7th. Maybe you should read up a little...
Rep. Colin Peterson, a founder of the Blue Dog Democrats, and ranking memberof the House Ag Committee, is from the 7th, Which goes from Canada to Marchall, MN. Peterson is almost as conservative as Rep. Jim Ramstad. Peterson often bucks party leadership and gets little help from the DNC or DCCC.
I live in the 7th district, and while we are quite conservative, there is no comparison. The 6th district produced Sen. Michele Bachmann, Rep. Mark Olson, and Sen. Michael Jungbauer.
Not to mention Bush won by more in the 6th than in the 7th.
Even Cheri Yecke thinks the 6th is the most conservative district in Minnesota
"It’s the most conservative district in the state,” said Yecke."
