BREAKING NEWS: FEDS SEARCH MINNEAPOLIS COUNCIL MEMBER'S HOME
Feds search Minneapolis Council member's home
Federal agents executed a search warrant at the home of Minneapolis City Council member Dean Zimmermann today. Zimmermann, a Green party member who is seeking re-election, was not available for comment, but his campaign manager, Lauren Maker, said the agents spent three hours at his home.
Maker said the agents confiscated everything relating to Zimmermann's campaign, including financial records and a pre-primary mailing in process. Maker said the agents told her the affidavit attached to the warrant was sealed, so she was unable to explain the purpose of the search.
But Maker also said the agents took Zimmermann's personal financial records as well.
Zimmermann, a first term council member, is seeking re-election and because of redistricting is in the same ward as council vice president Robert Lilligren, a DFLer.
"They shut down the campaign," Maker said. "It's politically motivated."
Maker said she drew that conclusion because of the timing five days before the primary. Source: Star Tribune, September 8, 2005

He recieved gifts.
Large gifts.
This is for sure related to marijuana. Plus Dean "Zimmerperson" Zimmerman is a Green, so you are getting away from your purpose of attacking DFLers.
I can't help but smile.
I don't exactly how this relates to the DFL in any way, so I am puzzled by your highlighting of Robert Lilligren's name, he is not involved in this story at all. It's almost like you're trying to link him to Zimmerman's drug use or corruption. That is a cheap shot even for you MDE!
Edwin: You have a point. I will remove the highlighting.
That was a fair thing to do. Thanks.
This is strange. Dean Zimmerman is a Green - so this is a fair point. Some of Peter McLaughlin's supporters are trying to link this to Rybak (which is also a stretch).
Any comment on Michele Bachmann using taxpayer resources for her congressional campaign?
Here's the link to the proof that Michele Bachmann is using taxpayer computers for her congressional campaign.

Someone should get Dean's good friend Rep. Mark Olson to comment.
Lot's on Zimmermann and Olson here:

I don’t necessarily agree with you, Edwin. While the article is about Zimmerman, I find it suspicious that this is the second time in consecutive elections where the FBI has investigated Lilligren’s opponents. The first was Herron, who then resigned, and now Zimmerman.
Shark bait,
Do you really think that Lilligren has the FBI in his pocket? Usually the FBI needs to have a better reason to make a huge splash like this than just helping Lilligren win elections. I'm really surprised that the conspiracy theorists haven't linked Coleen Rowley to this. She did, after all, work for the FBI. Where's the MDE exclusive about how she is using old connections in the FBI to clear the field for her secret run for the Minneapolis City Council?
I never said that the FBI was in anybody’s pocket…nor did I say that the investigations into Hurron (who pleaded guilty to federal extortion charges) and Zimmerman are not founded. All I am saying is that it is interesting that 2 of the three 3 known probes into City Hall have been against Lilligren opponents.
