Kennedy fears Democratic 'dirty tricks'
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Rep. Mark Kennedy, the leading Republican U.S. Senate candidate from Minnesota, said Tuesday that he fears he might be the target of a "dirty tricks" campaign and challenged Democrats to disclose whether they have illegally obtained personal data about him.
In a letter to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), Kennedy's campaign cited reports that two Democratic researchers illegally obtained a personal credit report on Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele, also a Republican Senate candidate.
The letter notes that Kennedy is ranked "the number one Republican pick-up opportunity in the country" by the National Journal.
As such, he said in an interview, "if they're doing dirty tricks on the No. 2 prospect (Steele), the fear that I have that they're also illegally going after my personal information is something that needs to be put to bed."
DSCC spokesman Phil Singer said the Steele incident was an isolated case. "As the DSCC has repeatedly stated, this was a single incident that was reported immediately to the U.S. attorney and no other candidate's report was accessed," he said. Source: Star Tribune, September 28, 2005

I sense a vast left-wing conspiracy...
I like how MDE's "truthful" manifesto involves GOP candidates making blind accusations in an attempt to help his lack-luster campaign.
Sounds like Marky Mark is hiding something...
I wonder what MK thinks of his newly exiled Majority Leader... Why doesn't he come out and defend DeLay if these charges are baseless? Let's get him on the record with this matter.
