MDE EXCLUSIVE: EMILY'S LIST TO ENDORSE KLOBUCHAR?
I just received this tip:
Tomorrow the liberal DC group EMILY's List will be endorsing Amy Klouchar (sic) for Senate.
Two reasons:
1) She's been their favorite all along, and a Kelly Doran poll leaked when he got out has Patty ahead and they think she needs help.
2) rumors out there that Patty refused to cave on partial-birth abortion ban (Patty supposedly supports it).
Thoughts?

I don't think this would come as a surprise, would it?
Klobuchar gets Emily's List's support, leaving Wetterling out in the cold...a perfect oppertunity to jump in the 6th race.
Sounds like your source is a Wetterling backer and you bought their analysis without doing any thinking of your own (surprise).
Emily List would not endorse the weaker female candidate because of the partial birth abortion ban. In fact, by my reckoning, Patty and Amy have the same position on the ban: they both support one with an exception for the life and health of the mother.
Emily's List is endorsing Amy because she is the stronger candidate. The fact that they are stepping in now proves that they no longer think that Patty is a viable candidate.
I definately agree with zack. The Emily's List endorsement is not a function of either Klobuchar or Wetterling stance on partial birth bans (which to my knowledge are pretty much the same). The endorsement is a function of backing the stronger candidate. They want to back and support the candidacy that has the best possible chance claiming a senate seat for a woman.
EMILYs List may be doing this to push Patty into a race she could actually win. I doubt that it would be in either woman's interest for EL to possibly sit out until the primary a year from now.
Republican Minnesota is right, this may be a good "oppertunity" for Patty to switch races whether she wants to or not. I'm sure the List would get behind her Congressional campaign again.
Yes, I agree. It seems that EMILY might have actually endorsed Amy to serve two purposes. Get Amy even more support, and therefore money, as she is the stronger candidate and also possibly use this to make Patty question the Senate and switch to the 6th, where EMILY could endorse her as well.
By thw way, what poll are you refering too?
I just want to add, I love what you're doing on MNLeftandRight and I want to give a heads up. I think Rebecca Yanisch might join the race for the governors mansion.
