TINKLENBERG vs. MORTENSEN #2: ABORTION SHOCKER FROM MORTENSEN
I received my second email earlier today from my DFL source in the 6th Congressional District. I was forwarded an email sent out by Scott Mortensen about abortion.
Mortensen must think he is running for Congress in the 5th Congressional District. Baby killers and Bible thumpers?
I also thought his comment "...standard operating procedure in the DFL right now is to avoid this discussion like the death plague of candidates," was very enlightening.
I will make sure that MCCL gets a copy.

This is a shocking email from someone who was an assistant minister. I understand his concern about the abortion issue, but why call it "a divisive Bible thumper issu[e]"? Bible thumper!!?!!

We will face the abortion questions in this race, as every other candidate in the 6th is anti-choice. I would like your thoughts on how to best approach this subject. Of course, standard operating procedure in the DFL right now is to avoid this discussion like the death plague of candidates. Yet, when we end up facing the Repubs if not sooner, this is going to be an issue. Check this thread out. Dan emailed it to me. This is how average people are talking about this. We need to develop a strategy on dealing with the issue, and turning it our direction. I know what my arguments are, but I'd like to hear yours, and perhaps I can learn from you. As I will be the first to admit this is one of the most challenging issues we'll face in the sixth and it will be used against us. Basically, it's all the repubs have anymore are the divisive Bible thumper issues. They are such miserable failures everywhere else, they will undoubtedly turn to the baby killer approach in the general election. If we get Bachmann, it most certainly will happen. But I have a suspicion, even ET might get into us with this. Check it out:

Yup, this must be Janet Robert. Janet is rather obsessed about the abortion issue.
It's hard to imagine the Tinklenberg campaign being stupid enough to send stuff to an anonymous blog - especially something like this.
Remember that Janet Robert - who supports criminalizing abortion lost to Kennedy - big time 65-35 (30 points).
When it was Kennedy v Wetterling it was 55-45 - 10 points.
Wetterling opposed criminalizing abortion.
You seem rather confident without having any first-hand knowledge.
I don't have first hand knowledge. As I say - if it's Janet Robert - the Tinklenberg campaign can distance themselves saying she's doing all this on her own. If this is from the Tinklenberg campaign, it suggests very bad judgement on the part of that campaign.
Nice work outing your source.
I have VERY good reason to believe that it's not coming from the Tinklenberg campaign.
NK - are sources from the Tinklenberg campaign denying they are leaking to MDE?
Wait a minute...I thought the issue was a woman's right to privacy, not a right to choose.
No wonder the DFLers skirt the abortions issue, they don't have a semblence of a message when it comes to abortion.
Republican Minnesota - what should we do about abortion then? Criminalize it? What penalties should the woman face?
