WETTERLING TO ANNOUNCE SENATE CAMPAIGN, BUT HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?
My thoughts on the article below:
1. While Wetterling will formally announce her candidacy for the U.S. Senate on October 9, it's clear both Republicans and Democrats think she may switch races.
2. This post can't be ruled out.
3. The DFL leadership does not support Wetterling's campaign for the U.S. Senate.
4. Klobuchar will be the DFL endorsed candidate for the U.S. Senate.

Patty Wetterling expected to formally declare U.S. Senate candidacy on Sunday, Oct. 9
One Republican 6th District congressional candidate feels down to the marrow that Democrat Patty Wetterling will run again for Congress in the district.
"I know that in my bones," said Jay Esmay of St. Cloud.
Sixth District DFL Chairman Greg Hansen, of Elk River, dismisses such certainty as self-delusion.
Hansen is wholly convinced Wetterling, the nationally known child safety advocate from St. Joseph, is running for the U.S. Senate.
Indeed, Wetterling will formally declare her candidacy for U.S. Senate on Sunday, Oct. 9, in St. Cloud, he said.
"She is running for Senate — she’s not running for Congress," said Hansen, who has spoken with Wetterling many times about her political future and "never" heard her mention another bid in the 6th District, he said.
Sixth District Republicans are obsessing on Wetterling, opined Hansen, because they’re reluctant to deal with El Tinklenberg’s candidacy, the former Ventura Administration transportation commission and City of Blaine mayor who Hansen styles an excellent candidate.
But not just Republicans have speculated on what Wetterling might do.
Sen. Leo Foley, DFL-Coon Rapids, has pondered whether Wetterling might forego the U.S. Senate race for the governor’s race — Hennepin County Attorney Amy Klobuchar seems to have taken a sizable lead in party support, he explained.
"I think the numbers are on Klobuchar," said Foley, saying while he supports Klobuchar it's "tragic" Democrats seem to have an excess of good candidates.
But Hansen sees the DFL endorsement as very much in play. "Once you get passed the DFL (Party) leadership, there’s an awful lot of support for Patty Wetterling,"said Hansen of the party rank and file.
Under federal election campaign law, candidates can shift from a Senate race to a congressional race and use campaign funds raised in the first to fund the second.
(Under Minnesota campaign law, the same scenario can be played out with a Senate and House race.)
Esmay, for one, believes the Wetterling campaign is using its U.S. Senate campaign as a means of broadening its funding raising efforts to then channel dollars into the 6th District when Wetterling ultimately enters the congressional race.

Yeah, and I'm sure that Jay Esmay knows because of a deep-down feeling...
So, come October 9, when PW does announce her U.S. Senate candidacy, where does that leave the credibility of MDE? It seemed like he had full faith in his source, otherwise why would he post it?
It's not just Jay Esmay. If you read the article you would learn that Leo Foley thinks Wetterling may switch races.
Micah, you would love to hang MDE's credibility on this one post titled "Someting from the rumor mill."
But only someone wanting to tarnish MDE's shining reputation would do that.
The media knows there is doubt about the life of Wetterling's candidacy for the U.S. Senate, that is why they did the article.
My post raised serious doubt about the life of Wetterling's U.S. Senate candidacy.

What in her background qualifies this woman to run a state - Minnesota, Louisiana or Alaska?
She runs her very small non-profit from a tiny space in downtown St. Joseph with a staff of what, 2-3 people? That's hardly similar to running a State.
I just don't understand what is told to people like this that makes them think they are qualified for such positions. Start with the City Council of St. Joseph - get to understand how gov't works. Then maybe the County Board.
But to go from running a tiny, mostly insigificant non-profit that's totally unrelated to gov't related, into thinking she can run a state. Anyone remember Jesse Ventura? (And he's my former mayor!)
1) Hate to break it to you, but just because something gets written in the ECM Post Review doesn't mean that it isn't still just speculation.
2) I'm sorry, but "rumor mill" may be in the title of an article that calls your source "unimpeachable." For me, that word means unquestionable and beyond doubt. Maybe if you had been a little more forward and said that your source, probably in the DFL, said there was talk of this possibly happening, then I'd give you some wiggle room. Either your source ain't “in the know”, or he/she is kinda gullible and so are you. If you are willing to post unsubstantiated rumors from DFLers, please, let me know where to sign up!
