DUMB, DUMB, DUMB
These are actual t-shirt designs for Kelly Doran's campaign.
You couldn't make this stuff up because nobody would believe it.
Kelly Doran's campaign website has new section for people to vote on t-shirt designs. In theory, this is a cool idea.
But this idea went bad when somebody on Doran's campaign thought the two designs above should be available on the website.
OBEY DORAN: This is weird and actually scary.
KELLY DORAN...HAS A POSSE: A posse?
The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language: Fourth Edition. 2000, defines posse as:
1. A group of people summoned by a sheriff to aid in law enforcement. 2. A search party. 3. A gang involved in crimes such as running guns and illegal narcotics trafficking. 4. Slang A group of friends or associates.
To help people better understand the word posse, I would suggest a small change to the shirt:
KELLY DORAN...HAS A POSSE or A gang involved in crimes such as running guns and illegal narcotics trafficking
When you read it like this, you start to see why this shirt is just a bad idea.
John, if this was your idea, it's time to take the job with the Senate DFL Caucus.

You need to add shirts like these to your Cafe Press store.
"Obey MDE"
"MDE has a posse"
I like how in-touch MDE is with popular culture. Doran is trying to reach out to the Ventura demographic, and clear all Americans think of the third definition for posse whenever they see it. I've seen a lot of dumb campaign shirts, signs and theme songs, and I have to tell you, these two shirts are pretty good.
I thought of Ventura right away as well. I still have a "Out Governor can kick you Governors ass" T-shirt. Incidentally I was also one of them first time votes "a fresh 19 years old" who turned out in droves for Jessie.
Doran is running an excellent campaign. Centrist Democrat, appealing to everyone from younger urban kids to rural conservative people. He is a force to be reconed with.
Just because it worked for Ventura doesn't mean this strategy will work with Doran. He gives off too much of a business man vibe for this "hip" strategy.
MDE, I will join your posse whenever you want to start one. I say let's go with deffinition #2: A search party.
