Well, this just confirms the fact that the DFL forced the shutdown to use it against Pawlenty. This was Hatch's first major media hit of the campaign and what did he talk about?
The DFL is despicable. I wonder how the 9,000 folks out of work for 10 days feel about the role they were forced to play in the 2006 DFL campaign strategy.
If the Governor really gave a rat's ass about state workers, why was he bragging about reducing the number of state employees at the 2005 state convention?
The only state employees the Governor cares about are the hacks that he appoints to all the state agencies.
Because government needs to be smaller, that's why.
Is this going to be the liberal tactic? Force shutdown. Blame Pawlenty. Attack Pawlenty for reducing government.
Boy, I sure hope so!
It should be blatantly obvious that the DFL held the entire state hostage to its political needs. Gridlock in 2004 + a lil' o "wife" Entenza's money = 13 House seats. Shutdown in 2005 + a lil' more o' "wife" Entenza's money = ???
Hopefully Minnesotans will see through it.
Sexist comments about Lois Quam are a new tactic. Why is "wife" in quotes? Does the fact that she makes more money than her husband not make her fully worthy of the title wife? Entenza and Quam have a stable family. If you want to start putting "wife" in quotes, how about the Coleman's?
when was the last time they were even in the same region of the country together?
Sexist? That's a new one. Do you really wanna pit the Coleman marriage versus the Entenzas? I would tread carefully.
Party Opposite-
If I were a member of AFSCME, I would endorse PAwlenty, or more likely, a third party candidate for governor. The DFL needs to stop alienating the labor side of their party.
I wonder what the state worker would think if he or she knew that the DFL turned DOWN a chance to give them a pay raise because they were threatened with the loss of campaign money from tribes.
So let's see where things rank for the DFL:
1. Political fortunes
2. Tribal campaign contributions
3. State workers
They are a disgrace to elected officials.
If the Governor really gave a rat's ass about state workers, why was he bragging about reducing the number of state employees at the 2005 state convention?
I was there and don't recall him "bragging" about cutting employees. There is a major difference between better managing tax dollars and finding ways to do what the state needs to do more efficiently vs. bragging about just wildly cutting employees because he doesn't care about them.
The only state employees the Governor cares about are the hacks that he appoints to all the state agencies.
Rhetoric alert! Rhetoric alert! Shields up!
9/11/25 "GOP unites as Pawlenty launches '06 campaign" by Bill Salisbury was the article I am referring to.
It also makes a pretty clear the only thing the Governor wants to focus on is DOMA, Abortion and Guns. Surprise, surprise...
Divide and conquer...
Yes sexist is what I said and I stand by it. No one responded to the question of why quotes were used around "wife" in that post. I suggest it is because she makes more money than Entenza and thus doesn't fit into the GOP ideal 50s stay at home wife.
And yes. I will compare Matt and Lois' committed marriage to the womanizing cheating Junior Senator from Minnesota and his wife. In fact I would compare just about any marriage to theirs, including many gay couples that are somehow ruining American society.
