UPDATE: MDE EXCLUSIVE: ARE DORAN'S U.S. SENATE BILLBOARDS ILLEGAL?
Thanks to another dedicated reader of Minnesota Democrats Exposed, Inside Source, my post on Kelly Doran's billboards just got more interesting:
"I called the Campaign Finance Board regarding the Doran billboards. While he was relunctant to give an 'official opinion' on the matter and emphasized that he would have to know which campaign paid for what, he did say that the billboards should be taken down or modified with the proper office being sought in a 'reasonable time frame'. When I asked if 31 days (that is how long it has been since the announcement of the switch to Govenor) was beyond a reasonable time frame, he said 'it is getting very close'.
I'm willing to cut Doran some slack, mostly because I can't wait for him to beat the shiite out of Hatch. But if they are still up on November 3rd, someone will probably file a complaint. That someone is most likely Mike Hatch.

I don't really get it. Does Doran Senate Committee still rent the signs? I am assuming that the committee signed a contract. Did it expire? If so, who then is responsible? Doran for Senate which is gone, Doran for Governor or the Billboard Company? If the contract has expired, then wouldn't the billboard company be in violation of campaign finance laws (corporate contribution?)? If the contract did not expire, does the contract then belong to Doran for Gov? I think that there is a lot of missing info here to determine the legality and who would be responsible.
I think the likelihood here is that his contract expired at the end of September and the Billboard company just hasn't gotten around to changing them.

Contract expired in September with the Kelly Doran for Senate campaign.
That space was the rented to the Kelly Doran for Governor Campaign.
Maybe the same guy, but for legalities, it is two seperate entities.
Rather the Doran for Governor campaign has gotten around to the wording on the billboard is of no consequence, unless it still says Senate.

Although he became president because of the assassination of McKinley in 1901, he was nothing like the hero of todays conservatives and his boss. Throughout both terms, Roosevelt disappointed Republican conservatives by pressing hard for a variety of reforms.

He shocked his party by threatening management in order to settle an ongoing coal strike(siding with the workers). His programs of protection of public lands drew both praise from what we call environmentalists and criticism from corporate interest, or what we would call Republicans.
Roosevelt received great public supoprt with his Trust-busting initiatives, starting with him putting his foot to the ass of J.P Morgan's Northern Securities Company.
The Republicans turned on him and tried to blame the panic of 1907 on him and his progressive policies, but those policies were the beginnings of major bank reform, which were continued by Democrats and credited with saving the banking industry decades later.
