Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary, is member of the advisory committee for Wellstone Action!, a organization to "honor the legacy of Paul and Sheila Wellstone by continuing their work through training, educating, mobilizing and organizing a vast network of progressive individuals and organizations."
But Yarrow pleaded guilty in 1970 to taking "immoral and improper liberties" with a 14-year old girl.
Yarrow's deviant past was discussed during the 2004 elections.

YARROW'S KERRY PUFF DADDY
John Kerry's presidential campaign strategists are probably hoping his friendship with frisky folk legend Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary will go "Puff!" like a certain Magic Dragon. Yarrow, a close Kerry pal who has been warming up crowds for the Massachusetts senator in Iowa, pleaded guilty to taking "immoral and improper liberties" with a 14-year-old girl back in 1970. As reported at the time, the girl and her older sister went to Yarrow's hotel room seeking an autograph. Yarrow answered the door naked and made sexual advances that stopped short of intercourse. The 14-year-old resisted his advances but did not call for help.
Yarrow served three months of a one- to three-year prison sentence and was pardoned by Jimmy Carter in 1981. Yarrow is making headlines these days while stumping for Kerry on the campaign trail. The Boston Globe reported that he "planted a major smooch on the cheek of a comely television reporter" while strumming his guitar on Kerry's campaign bus, "The Real Deal Express."
Kerry chided his friend, the Globe reported, but a few minutes later Yarrow was "inching toward the newswoman. Kerry's hands then shot up in between her face and Yarrow's, leaving no doubt that the senator's perfect manners include gallantry. 'Peter, enough!' Kerry bellowed."
And at a recent party for supporters in Ames, Iowa, Yarrow may have caused Kerry some embarrassment while performing, "Puff the Magic Dragon." Apparently the silver-haired senator was enjoying the song too much.
As reported by the Washington Post's Ceci Connolly, "Kerry lifted his fingers to his mouth for a quick toke on an imaginary joint. You can almost see his thick mane of silver hair returning to the shaggy brown 'do of those days."
When we called a Kerry campaign spokeswoman yesterday to talk about Yarrow, a flustered flack tried to dissuade us from reporting on his past. "What's the point of this story?" sputtered Kerry rep David DiMartino. "Isn't the New York Post supposed to break news, not rehash it?"
When we pointed out that many younger readers might not have heard much about the colorful Yarrow, who is godfather to Kerry's daughter Alex, DiMartino gave us the campaign's official line: "John Kerry has a lifelong friendship with Peter Yarrow." Source: The New York Post, January 15, 2004

Yep, he’s a piece of work. 34 years ago he tried to molest a minor. If it was my daughter (though I was just a thought at that time), I’d still be trying to kill him.
However, this is a political blog. Yarrow is not an elected or represented Democrat.
So, I decided to bring this back around to politics and point out the sexual criminal activity of the elected and represented Republicans (thus this post may get deleted quick). I will also keep this within that last few months- instead of going back decades like MDE had to go.
In 2002, the Republicans endorsed and elected Dick Borrell to the MN House of Representatives. It was later discovered that this Republican had sexually assaulted his nephew’s girlfriend after taking them home after a night of drinking.
How about the Fmr Republican Party state Chair and Christian Coalition head stepping down from political life because 3 female relatives brought charges of molestation to him?

I actually stuck Dick Borrell in there at the last minute.
Two things:
1. Neither party is scot-free.
2. It was brought up because the REPUBLICANS are trying to make an isssue out of Yarrow. It is archived because part of the REPUBLICAN strategy is to paint Democrats as immoral.
So, when Republicans are caught up in this, its very fair to point out the hypocrisy and that NO entity has a complete grip on morality- not event the church. Look, MDE felt that by pointing this out, he's 'exposing' Democrats, as what? Immoral? Well, as I said and proved, there are far more official Republicans doing this than their rhetoric would have you beleive.

I know exactly what MDE is trying to do…and I really don’t believe that he/she/they/it truly believe that Democrats are the ONLY ones that are immoral, but his blog is about exposing Democrats…that’s it. Republicans get blasted on other blogs while the Democrats get let off the hook. No one said that this Blog was going to be about fair and unbiased coverage…that’s some news source on cable.
The truth is, BOTH sides seem to think that their fight is the moral fight and that the other side is immoral in part or as a whole. The truth is that BOTH sides have a little of BOTH moral and immoral people.
As Lord Acton once said, “Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely” This means that, as a person’s power is increased, that the person’s sense of what is moral and immoral lessens. AND, since my very basic definition of “Politics” is “the struggle for power” the more powerful a party, or person gets, the more immoral acts you will tend to see. This is the foundation of my argument for term limits. Our country’s founders never envisioned a government run by career politicians. We need to bet back to the days when politics isn’t a full time job and where the people are represented properly.
