DEMOCRAT OFFENDED AT BIBLE REFERENCE IN DFL EMAIL
This is from Democratic Underground:
##
From an e-mail from DFL HQ today:
St. Paul - With Minnesota soldiers actively serving the United States at home and abroad, today we honor all those who have served the country with honor. Minnesota DFL Chair Brian Melendez issued the following statement:
"We Americans owe our freedom to the men and women who have bravely served our nation in uniform. The Bible reminds us that 'no one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends." On this Veterans Day, let us remember and honor our courageous fellow citizens who have laid their lives on the line so that we can all enjoy the blessings of liberty."
Can't we leave the Bible-thumping to the Republicans?

If he think THAT'S "Bible-thumping" then I would just LOVE to introduce him to my grandmother!
Gee, the responses by DU members to this nitwit are even more enlightening about DFLers attitudes about religion.
They write stuff like "Maybe it's because Brian is a Christian. Along with Betty McCollum (Roman Catholic), Mike Hatch (Protestant), Jim Oberstar (Roman Catholic), Martin Sabo (Lutheran), Collin Peterson (Lutheran), Mark Dayton (Presbyterian), and a majority of Minnesotans."
and
"I think Brian is A OK with this."
Isn't it interesting that the party of "tolerance", the party of "free speech", the party of the "first amendment", the party that wishes to protect the rights of "everyone", is the party that can't tolerate one simple statement that contains a relevent, non-preachy quote from the Book the vast majority of Americans claim to believe in.
Interesting indeed.
John,
I suggest you stick to the subject.
The head of the DFL Party references the bible, another DFLer gets mad about it. Sounds like a draw.
Your spin would get me bounced out of here if I was to use it like I did in the last post on child molesters. MDE gave one example of a person who votes and supports Democrats of being a convicted child molester 35 years ago. I gave six recent examples of Republicans, elected and active, who are in some kind of trouble for sexual assault to children.
Your analogy or algebra would have you yourself conclude that Republicans are more likely to be child molesters.
And, that's just silly. Isn't it?
I suggest you stick to the subject.
....then you go off on some silly attempt at a comparison.
Uh huh.
The fact is, you know you can't deny my statement.
Listen John, Clearly you were homeschooled.
According to the story, the party of tolerance has both, a chairman that made "one simple statement that contains a relevent, non-preachy quote from the Book the vast majority of Americans claim to believe in"
AND
supporters that are not happy with that.
Yet, they tolerate each other.
So, you defeated your own statment by repeating the story.
Keep posting. You keep making the case against yourself.
