Klobuchar Politicizes Veterans Day to Launch False Attack
"It's disappointing to see Amy Klobuchar playing politics on Veterans Day. Amy Klobuchar's false attacks can't obscure the fact that funding for our veterans has dramatically increased since 2001. Our veterans deserve better." Ron Carey, Chairman of the Republican Party of Minnesota
Klobuchar Launches False Attacks Over Funding For Veterans
"Today, the administration and the Republican-led Congress are failing our returning troops. At a time when we are spending billions on the reconstruction of Iraq, funding for health care for veterans is far below what's needed. Those are the wrong priorities for our country. We cannot abandon the brave soldiers who fought for us once they return home." (Amy Klobuchar, Press Release, "Honoring Our Veterans," www.amyklobuchar.com/index.asp?type=b_basic&sec= }, November 8, 2005)

Of course, the President took some pretty hard shots today, too.
Huh? I think that you should retitle this post. If you look, Klobuchars press release is dated November 8th. It appears that the Republican Party is the on attacking Klobuchar on Veterans day.
Who is politicizing the day?
Funny because today October 11th: Bush Administration announces $1 billion shortfall in VA funding
http://www.wqad.com/Global/story.asp?S=3519260
http://snowe.senate.gov/pressap/record.cfm?id=236480 More from Olympia Snowe.
You site a 51% increase but we have been at war since 2001. It is almost like comparing war expenditures during peace time. I will give you $1 billion is a drop in the hat compared to some of the numbers. But a short fall is a short fall.
You said it Abrogans.
The entire gop from the President's speech to Limbaugh on the radio are pushing to frame the Democrats as being anti-military today.
Every last one of those bullet points curiously start BEFORE Bush had them under HIS budget. Before the War on Terror and the War in Iraq.
I have some of the answers and will get all of the numbers but here's one fact that shows how full of sh*! those 'facts' are the Republicans put out:
Every single year, the administration has put forth cuts to Veteran Benefits.
Yesterday was the first day in 55 years that the joint session of Congress will not be hearing direct testimony from the Disabled Veterans. This was cancelled by Congressman Boehner (R) Ohio who chairs that particular session. Why? The testimony would have killed this Presidents numbers to point of non-recovery.
Cuts every year since Clintons last budget, until the current proposal. The current proposal- which has not been passed or voted on- is still woefully short of taking care of the 200000 activated troops over the last few years that will need healthcare, medical treatment, job training and education when they come back into civilian life.
Just look at how many VA hospitals have closed across the nation.
These draft-avoiding chicken hawks got no use for our Vets after they serve their time(and the stop loss time added to their time).
Shameless
So, let me guess, this guy is a heartless traitor right? For challenging the Bush administration and their lack of support for Veterans : http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051112/ap_on_go_pr_wh/democrats_veterans
