SOMETHING FROM THE RUMOR MILL: HATCH'S NEW CAMPAIGN SECRETARY?
I have been informed from an "unimpeachable sourch" that Tim Huber with the Saint Paul Pioneer Press is rumored to be Mike Hatch's new campaign press secretary.
After the trial of Ron Eibensteiner in Rochester/Mower County, it should be of no surprise to anyone that Huber and Hatch have a very close relationship.
This type of job switch between news outlets and DFL campaigns is not new.
A few years ago a former MPR staffer, Karen Louise Booth, was hired to be communications director for the Minnesota DFL Party. Brian Lambert, who also worked for the Saint Paul Pioneer Press, was hired by Senator Dayton. Lambert later became involved with Steve Kelly's campaign for governor.
I will stay in close contact with my source and keep you informed of any developments.
UPDATE: A dedicated reader of Minnesota Democrats Exposed thought I should link to this story so people would have a better idea who is Tim Huber.

So the DFLers got people trying to play politics who use to be in journalism. The other half of that is that there are journalists who used to be partisan Republican operatives. Cindy Brucato on KSTP worked Arne Carlson and spent years as a GOP communications consultant. State Representative Kurt Zellars spent his entire career from the time her graduated from NDSU as a republican hack in communications before getting elected to the state house. KARE 11 Rick Kupchella's wife Leslie is the spin meister for Norm Coleman. Republican elected officials have well known hacks operating their message vehicles as well. Tony Sutton, former Executive Director of the GOP over in the Auditor's Office. Tim Pawlenty with Brian McClung. Bill Walsh over at the Department of Education. And, lets not forget that great recycling machine of GOP losers, the Center for the American Experiment. That's the organization that the Star Tribune found the never reporter turn columnist Kathy Kersten. KSTP radio and TV has more former Republican operatives turn 'news people' than any other.
It's even rumored that MDE, now blogging news with a point(some would say a slant), is a former GOP operative too.
I am amazed at how bitter and angry some liberals are. I guess losing a presidential election by
over 3,000,000 votes does that.
Come on seriously, the man testifies in a trial against the former GOP chair. He then ALLEGEDLY becomes a campaign staffer for a DFL candidate for Governor. Red/Blue, Republican/Democrat, who cares? Can anyone objectively say that doesn't smell like a rat?
It is almosr as bad as, lets say, a national TV host on Fox News, writing a children's book on morality and then, being forced to settle a lawsuit for sexually harassing a female employee who audio tapes his phone calls asking for sex.
See conservatives have crazy people too, we just don't let them work on our campaigns.
Sorry DFL Dork, but the media is liberal, they voted 2-1 in favor of Kerry in '04, which means that the Dems will have the advantage finding quality media people in the near future

Marty,
Why call me names? From your picture, you're a four-eyed, bad shirt wearing, effed-up haircut doughboy tha got hit with the ugly stick front and back. But, that would be mean and not on subject.
According to your own bio- You're in the 'liberal' media. Now what exactly is the liberal media?
New York Times? With their major and senior journalists very cozy with this White House- doesn't seem too likely.
ABC? Let's see, the simple fact that they distribute Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly eliminates them.
Washington Post? Bends over backwards to keep their less than adaquate conservative colunmists equal to the good ones.
NBC? Let's see, there's joe Scarborough, Pat Buchanan, William Safire and several Wall Street Journalists who find the broadcast to be good enough for their outlets.
I know I could go on but it's never about facts with you guys, only what sounds right that can make you a victim:"Boo-Hoo, the media is against us. Yes Rush Limbaugh is the most heard radio program and Fox News Channel is the number one cable news channel, our message is still being drowned out by the liberal media! Wahhh!"
You and I know you pulled that stat out of your cavernous ass, but for s and g can you link or name that study you quote?
No?
I actually kinda like that shirt.
And "DFL Dork" was too good a line just to sit on, I understand that ad hominem attacks are off topic. But occasionally they can lighten the dull and statistics heavy world of politics. I actually don't know you at all, so it's wrong for me to judge how "dorky" you are. Sorry. Maybe you'll start blogging and I'll be able to judge firmly one way or another later.
I am convinced though that you are an echo chamber. Syl Jones used the same argument about conservatives in media in a column he wrote in the STRIB almost a decade ago. I remember because it is the only Jones column I have ever read. I've also seen it in Al Franken's works and James Carville's works.
Naming conservatives in the media is a form of fallacy. It's anecdotal, it doesn't prove anything. Of course there are going to be conservatives in media. However, for the most part the media is liberal. I cited my source on that too, and there are plenty of others.
Just click on that link called "Source" in my earlier comment post and it will take you to NewsMax.com that had an article reporting on a U of Connecticut study. I used that article as my source.
So, where's your source on conservatives in the media? What are the percentages? I will tell you that Talk Radio is for the most part conservative, that TV is mostly liberal, and that print media is mostly liberal. The media from which a majority of Americans get their news is liberal.
It's fact. I did cite my source, and I'll site another:
Pew Research Shows that media is liberal
Marty is way wrong. It's 52% to 19% Democrat. Try this: http://www.mrc.org/biasbasics/biasbasics3.asp#TV%20and%20Newspaper%20Journalists
But that's journalists more broadly. Among campaign journalists outside D.C. Kerry only had a 3 to 1 lead. But among inside the beltway types Kerry led 12 to 1: http://www.mrc.org/biasbasics/biasbasics3.asp#Campaign%20Journalists
Who cares how they vote? I want to know how they REPORT!
Ever since the cries of the "liberal media" from the 90's, all reporters have been terrified of appearing liberal. So they just appear to be chicken-shit.
I remember the media tearing Clinton apart or nothing, and tearing Gore apart for even less. Those bastards turned the Wellstone Memorial into something that it was NOT by airing four second clips and telling people to judge a 3 hour memorial by them. They didn't call the "Swift Boat Veterans" out for the fakes they were. And I strongly believe they have failed from every angle at covering the Iraq War.
If there is a liberal media, I have failed to see it.
Da Polga, maybe the media just isn't liberal enough for you?
Here's a blog post talking about this study that shows that the media does report with a liberal bias.
Perhaps my problem is less with the media and more with the scum that I see thrown at the Democrats. I suppose that, combined with my party's severe backbone inefficiencies, are far worse that the inability of the media to call the Republicans on their smears.
That's a very impressive poll that you dug up, by the way.
