DORAN'S DOLLARS CAN'T BUY NAME ID
In their endless quest to print anything that presents Republicans in a less than favorable light, Minnesota reporters overlooked one very important part of last week's Saint Cloud State University poll- Kelly Doran's inability to make progress in his bid for governor.
In spite of his unprecedented television and radio buys, Kelly Doran remains virtually unknown to most Minnesotans. Only 20.4% of Minnesotans polled knew his name, according to the recent SCSU poll.
With that kind of lack of improvement, it looks like Doran's gubernatorial ambitions may be heading the way of his failed senate bid.

One might be shocked, but I agree with you on this one. Spending that much money at this point in the race, when most voters ACTIVELY don't care about even top-of-the-ticket races, was a big mistake, and doesn't make much of a statement to the other candidates other than to show off one's bankroll.
Seems to me Doran's still lagging behind the pack. If you are not at all active in the party, you don't deserve the endorsement.

I don't know if I agree or not so don't take this as argumentative...
Define "active".
Manning phone banks? (Sorry, personning phone banks...)
Doorknocking for other candidates?
Showing up at precinct caucuses?
There are different levels of activity, some are more public than others. There are lots of candidates through the years who weren't overly active in a party but because 1) they were agreement with the principles of that party and 2) delegates thought they could win that they got the nod.
So I was just curious what Doran has to do to be qualified under the qualification of "active".
Ohh dear, do we have to do this again. I think we all know Doran is not, let me repeat: NOT, running for the endorsement, he is running for the primary.
As far as the poll results, if I am reading the same numbers as you, then I don't think this is bad for Doran at all. He is only about 60 people behind Kelley and only 40 behind Lourey, who both have run before and are elected officials who have had the media at times. Plus, Doran had to build from completely nothing, I'd say its pretty good for a beginner.
Also, yes I would like a definition of "active". Some people give money, others lick letters, others call people. It's all part of the process, unfortunately some people are a little busy, so maybe the easiest thing is to donate, which is what Doran has done.
