BREAKING NEWS: CIRESI TO ANNOUNCE INTENT NEXT WEEK
Ciresi to reveal soon if he's in or out of Senate race
Trial attorney Mike Ciresi says he'll announce next week whether he'll be a Democratic candidate for the U-S Senate seat being vacated by Mark Dayton.
Ciresi ran for the seat six years ago. This time, he'd be joining an already established field of candidates. Hennepin County Attorney Amy Klobuchar holds a wide lead in fund-raising and support of prominent Democrats. Veterinarian Ford Bell is also in the race. Child safety activist Patty Wetterling withdrew from the race last week and endorsed Klobuchar.
The 59-year-old Ciresi is considered to have the ability to largely finance his own campaign. That would make him less dependent on the fund-raising and organizing capabilities of the state Democratic network than Klobuchar.
