DULUTH BUDGETEER PREDICTION: HATCH LOSES TO DORAN IN PRIMARY; PAWLENTY WINS RE-ELECTION;
"5. While many Republican governors will fall, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty will buck the trend, edging millionaire realtor Kelly Doran by, say, 48-47 percent, with Independent Peter Hutchinson garnering most of the remainder.
6. Duluth native Mike Hatch, Minnesota’s attorney general, is thought to be the favorite for the DFL endorsement, but too many DFLers have issues with him to make Hatch the standard bearer this fall. Doran will beat him in the September primary because he has the money to burn on ads." Source: Budgeteer News, January 2, 2006

The budgeteer has long been Duluth's red headed stepchild, but conservative leaning newspaper. After being bought out by Knight Ridder (owner of the Duluth News Tribune, a paper that makes the Star Tribune look like a mouthpiece for the RNC) it is good to see it's being allowed independence in it's editorial content.
The other paper in Duluth is busy ripping the military recruiters for objecting to the Steve Kelly sign at the same time as it commends the recruiters for their restraint.
