I am glad Minnesota's new state senator understands the law.

Swearing in of state Senator-elect delayed until Friday
The swearing-in ceremony for D-F-L Senator-elect Tarryl Clark has been postponed until noon on Friday.
Clark had been scheduled to take office as state senator representing District 15 tomorrow.
But she says the ceremony was delayed because there must be 48 hours between the time the election is certified and when the winner takes office.
Clark's ceremony will be held Friday in the Senate chambers. She won the District 15 special election on December 27th. Source: Associated Press, January 5, 2005

Wow. A self-proclaimed bleeding-heart liberal dem says your blog "sucks"?
In the world of performance metrics, this is known as a "homerun." Kudos!

Results for the Special Election for State Senator District 15 and State Representative District 15B are unofficial until certified by the State Canvassing Board on January 3, 2006.
Sounds to me like the State Senator understands the law correctly.
