ANDERSON: JANECEK'S COMMENTS WERE DEMEANING
A 'Girlie' Office?
Belittling the auditor
I was dismayed to read Sarah Janecek's Feb. 23 commentary in which she referred to the state auditor's office as a "girlie" office.
To make her point, Janecek felt that she had to dump on two of the statewide offices held by women. Quite frankly, her rhetorical flourish was demeaning to the office and the important role of the state auditor.
The state auditor has oversight over the $20 billion spent annually by local governments in Minnesota. The office serves as the taxpayers' watchdog for waste, fraud and abuse. To write that this office is somehow "girlie" is uninformed, to say the least.
