Mr. Pot, this is Mr. Kettle, I believe you've met?
You can't honestly tell us that you wouldn't be ridiculing a similar event if a national-profile Democrat were in the same position.
Will you be posting the comments from Leno and Letterman after their shows tonight? Calling for a protest or boycott?
From Kennedy v. The Machine:
"Please, Mr. Cheney…
No more hunting trips with Justice Scalia.
Last I checked, they were a Republican BLOG. Is it ok for them to poke fun?
I think the post is hysterical! You have to admit it is kind of funny....
It's still safer to hunt with Cheney than to be in a car with Ted Kennedy.
But is it safe to wear a Twins jersey on the floor of the House if you want to get reelected?
How can you not like this story? I'm sure glad we have these guys running the country, things have never been better!
Cheney better take up some bow hunting with the Nug from now on...
I think it's okay to joke within reason because the guy's okay. But I thought John Kerry's staffer's quote that he was aiming for the special prosecutor was a bit over the line.
John, the jury is still out on that one. Harry Whittington is back in intensive care this morning. Reports are he was more seriously injured than the White House is disclosing.
Also, I have to admit I think you are on the right track in comparing this to Ted Kennedy. Many similarities. You've got the coverup. You've got the fact that Cheney did not talk to the police until the next day. Time to sober up maybe?
You're absolutely right. That would be evil to joke about it:
The White House has decided that the best way to deal with Vice President Dick Cheney's shooting accident is to joke about it.
President Bush's spokesman quipped Tuesday that the burnt orange school colors of the University of Texas championship football team that was visiting the White House shouldn't be confused for hunter's safety wear.
"The orange that they're wearing is not because they're concerned that the vice president may be there," joked White House press secretary Scott McClellan, following the lead of late-night television comedians. "That's why I'm wearing it."
Bastards!

its funny, you hear the republicans drag out the Kennedy thing constantly, and it happened a long time ago. At least we democrats keep getting new material!

I just read that. You might be right.

Not very similar. Too many witnesses to pay off (or shoot with bird shot).
And as we continue to witness Kennedy drinking spells (he had to be drunk when it went off on the Senate floor about Alito), I've never heard of Cheney having a similar problem.

The difference is that our material - though it be old, is true and accurate. Democratic new material has to be fabricated.
John,
Cheney didn't actually shoot the guy? He didn't wait until the next morning to talk to the local law enforecement officials? Whittington didn't have a heart attack this morning?
Help me out here. Which part of this did we evil Democrats fabricate?
By the way, that last one was in jest.
Help me out here. Which part of this did we evil Democrats fabricate?
I'm not sure why it wasn't posted, but yesterday afternoon I posted another message that say something like "that last message was in jest".
(Sometimes democrats just don't have a sense of humor...)
So when you are cornered, it's us that does not have a sense of humor?
I got one for you.
Hunting with Dick Cheney, so far, is safer than riding in a car with Laura Bush driving.
You see, she killed her boyfriend in a car accident while speeding. Just like ol' Teddy Kennedy.
As far you not knowing anything about drinking, Cheney has been arrested twice for drunk driving. http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/cheney_doc.html
Which is twice as many as our President: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/bushdui1.html
Still got that sense of humor?
How about this? Now that group of draft dodging faux patriots got someone with combat experience.
Things wrong on that hunting trip:
1. Always acknowledge where your hunting companions are when ready to discharge.
2. Having dogs to retrieve the birds, makes it safer for the hunters.
3. Once the Ambulance was called, there is ALWAYS a game warden or deputy that accompanies the ambulance to make a report on the spot. Making the law wait overnight is not acceptable.
It sure is shameful that the DFL would dare make light of the situation.
From today's Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:
Jeb Bush joked about the incident at a lunch yesterday. After placing a bright orange sticker on his chest he said, "I'm a little concerned that Dick Cheney is going to walk in."
Shame, shame DFL.
