KELLEY'S CAMPAIGN GETS MONEY FROM
Senator Steve Kelley's campaign for governor received contributions from some very prominent Minnesota Democrats:
Mike Ciresi (gave $250 to Kelley)
John Cowles (gave $250 to Kelley)
Teresa Daly (gave $500 to Kelley)
State Rep. Denise Dittrich (gave $500 to Kelley)
Ben Kanninen (Superintendent of Burnsville schools, where Hatch's wife teaches [?]- he gave $125 to Kelley)
Former St. Paul Mayor George Latimer (gave $500)
Rep. Ron Latz (gave $200)
David Lillehaug (gave $200)
Ted Mondale (gave $250)
Roger Moe (gave $250)
Vic Moore (gave $150)
I emailed Jessica Null with Kelley's campaign and I received the following response:
"Sen. Kelley has widespread support across the state, from the grassroots on up. We didn’t start with a built-in fundraising base—we had to create it through hard work and a focused, energized message. We had almost 2,000 contributors in 2005, and there's no sign of the momentum waning. Democrats know we have to be united to win--and they know Sen. Kelley has the best chance of building a majority."
Hatch isn't the 800-pound gorilla in this race. Doran, Kelley, Lourey, and Hatch could all win the primary. In my opinion, Hatch underestimated his opponents.
