MALE CANDIDATES CAN'T CRITICIZE FEMALE CANDIDATES?
So a male candidate can't criticize a female candidate? This is ridiculous.
"Much has been made of [Patty] Wetterling's earlier promise not to run in the Sixth. But, as one of your publishers noted in Roll Call, people expect politicians to break promises about their own futures. Thus we think dwelling on Patty's promise is a nonfactor in the DFL endorsing contest, and for the male candidates in the GOP contest, Reps. Phil Krinkie (R-Lino Lakes) and Jim Knoblach (R-St. Cloud), dwelling on that promise could take on a sexist tinge. Better to drop the issue, altogether." Huh, I would have to agree that that is a silly statement.
I would wonder why the PIM heads would go out of their way to protect Patty Wetterling like that. I did, however, like their official dropping of child safety advocate from in front of her name, because she is clearly not just that anymore.
I heard yellow-haired Janesak say this on "At Issue" this past Sunday. It's a lame position, of course, and a double standard.
Wouldn't a feminist want to be treated equally? Or do they only want to be treated equally when it's to their advantage?
Wetterling said one thing, did another. She can't talk her way out of that, she can't whine her way out of it, she can't claim "sexist" to get out of it. Bottom line, she lied.
I'm not surprised that RINO Janesak would say something this stupid.
Yeah, Paul Wellstone, Gil Gutnecht and many others have done the same thing. People do change their minds.
If this is all you have on Patty Wetterling, people aren't going to be interested.
It will be interesting to see whether Tarryl Clark throws her support one way or another in this race.
I consider myself a feminist but do not consider this an issue of sexism. It's just politics. Making this an issue of sexism, distracts from what I think are the real issues here.
In my opinion, Patty Wetterling's weakness as a candidate is to make the answer to every question - "it's about the children". Her other weakness is she's too far to the left on national security issues. Using commercials as Mark Kennedy did, comparing her to Osama Bin Laden won't help with that. Rather strong, "just the facts ma'am", matter of fact ads would be better on that score.
Michele Bachmann, Cheri Yecke, Annette Meeks and many others on the right play the "sexist against right wing women" card, when they face criticism. So this nonsense is not limited to democrats.
What does Tarryl Clark matter? Her political might is equal to that of a gnat at this point.
And sexism against conservative women does exist. The left needs to bash successful conservative women like Meeks and former Rep. Lynne Ostermann down so as to keep other women from using their brains.
Woman's prerogative, I guess.
Unfair to hold her to the higher, male, standard.
