BREAKING NEWS: WHAT IS TIM PENNY DOING?

Tim Penny has filed a new campaign committee for governor. Penny had prevously terminated his gubernatorial campaign committee from 2002.

I'm not saying Penny is running for govenor again, but why would he file a new committee?

The Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board has very specific rules for terminating a campaign committee.

The committee treasurer may terminate a principal campaign committee by filing a Statement of Termination report, along with the Report of Receipts and Expenditures, when:

(1) there are no loans, notes, or unpaid bills outstanding, and
(2) physical assets have been disposed of so that the combined fair market value of the remaining assets (including cash) does not exceed $100.

What is Penny doing?

I should call DFL Party communications director David Ruth and ask him if he knows what Penny is doing. Ruth worked for Penny's campaign in 2002.
