DOMAGATE: ARE DEMOCRATS WAIVING THE WHITE FLAG?
Since DOMAgate broke last week, the Republican Party of Minnesota has been relentless in holding Senator Johnson accountable for his comments about the Defense of Marriage Act and the Minnesota Supreme Court.
The Republican Party of Minnesota has issued over 10 press releases, released a radio ad, unveiled a new website, and Chairman Ron Carey held two press conferences in less than a week.
The DFL has done nothing to defend Senator Johnson, other than issusing a press release yesterday filled with lies and hateful statements.
Chairman Carey said yesterday "DFL Chairman Brian Melendez often speaks of a 'culture of corruption' in Washington, DC. I think it's time Brian Melendez looked a little closer to home."
Carey's comments could be why Melendez and the DFL have been silent.
Liberal bloggers, who have done nothing to defend Senator Johnson in the last few days, are now speaking out against Johnson.
As I wrote last evening, the Minnesota DFL is so desperate to distract from DOMAgate, they have resorted to posting stories about the Olympics and David Ruth practicing with his javelin.
Have they given up? Have they now accepted the reality that Johnson could be facing an ethics complaint?
I think they have.
When this story broke last week, representatives of the Republican Party of Minnesota and the Minnesota DFL had to make a decision: how aggressively do we respond?
It's clear after watching the DFL's pitiful performance this past week defending Johnson that they have been outmanuvered in message, strategy, and tactics by the Republican Party of Minnesota.

Where are the lies in Mr. Melendez' statement?
Give it a rest, Drama Queen. What's "hateful" about Brian Melendez's statement? It sounds pretty direct and to the point to me.
