MDE FROM THE ARCHIVES: JOHNSON QUESTIONED MOE'S ABILITY TO SERVE WHILE FACING ETHICS CONCERNS
"Senate Minority Leader Dean Johnson, R-Willmar, said an indictment of [Roger] Moe would raise the question of whether he could continue to serve as a majority leader. 'Legally, he can, but politically, as the chief administrator of the Senate, [the person who] sets the rules and standards, it makes the workings of the Senate cumbersome,' Johnson said."(Conrad deFiebre, Robert Whereatt, “Moe Indicted Over Campaign Allegations; 2 Aides To Senate Leader Also To Appear In Court Today,” Star Tribune, June 19, 1996)
