MDE FROM THE ARCHIVES: LOUREY FLIP-FLOPS ON RUNNING FOR SENATE AGAIN
I received this article from a DFL activist.
##
Despite an all-or-nothing bid for governor, Sen. Becky Lourey said she's changed her mind and will seek re-election.
The Kerrick senator had sought the DFL Party endorsement for governor, along with state Auditor Judi Dutcher and Senate Majority Leader Roger Moe of Erskine. Moe won the endorsement in early May.
Shortly afterward, Lourey said she would not seek another Senate term. But she said she was urged to reconsider.
"The support and urging from people I respect. It's been pretty overwhelming," she said Thursday. "They actually convinced me we can do more on the issues we care about should I return to the Senate." Source: Associated Press, May 31, 2002

1 Comments:
Allow me to point out some flip-flops on running for office. Just three:
Tim Pawlenty
Flip:I'm running for Senate.
Flop:Cheney wants me to be Governor.
Norm Coleman
Flip: Ran for Governor in 1998, then started to again in 2002 when;
Flop: A call from Pawlenty letting him know Cheney wants him in the Senate.
Gil Gutknecht
Flip: Signed the Contract with American to run only for six terms.
Flop: After his own party screwed him on his Senate desires, he's breaking the pledge and running for a seventh term.
Actually, I'm OK with that last one. Gil would have been a tough opponent in the Senate race. Kennedy is gift, so I guess we owe you one.
take care,
Eric
