MDE FROM THE ARCHIVES: MPR SETTLES WITH STATE OVER LIST SHARING
"The state attorney general's office has settled a lawsuit against Minnesota Public Radio that alleged MPR did not adequately advise its 87,000 members about the sharing of their names and addresses with other organizations."
"'Our lawsuit was necessary,' said Alan Gilbert, chief deputy and solicitor general in the attorney general's office. 'The disclosure that MPR was giving was misleading and confusing. And they were resistant to change. What's telling is that when the public became aware of MPR's practices, many elected not to have their membership information shared with other organizations.'"
