THEY SAID IT! SPECIAL DOUBLE EDITION: DFLERS SPEAK OUT AGAINST MIKE HATCH
DFL Activist Kathy Okins on Mike Hatch:
"Asked if she considers Hatch the leading contender, [DFL activist Kathy] Okins replied, 'No. I think he was perceived as the frontrunner up until maybe a month or two ago. Now, I think people are looking a little harder at what each one has to say.' … Okins said Hatch's lack of attention has prompted some DFLers to say, 'He's not really taking us seriously.'" (Bill Salisbury, "For Hatch, The Focus Is The Fall," Pioneer Press, March 3, 2006)
Becky Lourey Campaign Strategist John Blackshaw on Mike Hatch:
"Many DFL activists resent Hatch's failure to 'show up,' said political consultant John Blackshaw, a Lourey campaign strategist. 'The perception is that he's not engaged, he's not actually working for their support,' Blackshaw said. 'That kind of stuff doesn't rub well with people. They want somebody who's going to actually sit down and listen and talk to them.'" If Mike Hatch does not perform well on Tuedsay, I will stop my refrain: Mike Hatch is leading the race for Governor be all available indicators.
On the other hand, if he does perform well on Tuesday, his strategy and my perspective on the race will only be reinforced.
The polling numbers of regular delegates are the most accurate indicator we have in an endorsment race. Those numbers are outstanding for the Hatch campaign, particularly in greater Minnesota.
Mike Hatch is charting a bold course towards victory in November.
