CHECKS AND "NO" BALANCE
I've come to expect shoddy writing and poor analysis from Checks and Balances, but this is a new low:
"Republicans have already lost any inroads they made with the African-American constituency with their handling of Hurricane Katrina. We doubt there will be many blacks who publicly support Republicans in the future.
It seems like the Republican playbook may need some new pages." Source: Checks and Balances

Ummm, recent polls show African Americans support Bush at about 2%. Whatever the margin of error, it comes out to about zero.
As a group, its no secret that African Americans, while maybe lining up some of the social issues with Republicans, vote against Republicans at larger numbers than any other.
Bush was making huge inroads through the Faith Based initiatives but, as Towle pointed out, he lost a lot after Katrina. You can't deny that.
Why is it a new low?
I think you're being very Minnesotan defensive about this. It's a reality.
