ELLISON'S CAMPAIGN KEEPS NELSON-PALLMEYER'S CAMPAIGN UPDATED ON FEC FILINGS
I spent my lunch hour reviewing Keith Ellison's FEC filings. I notice Ellison's Statement of Candidacy was sent to the FEC and Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer's campaign.
Why would Ellison's campaign send info to a rival campaign?
I have looked at hundreds of candidate filings with the FEC and I have never seen one campaign send their filings to rival campaign.

In this game of Survivor: 5th Congressional Edition, it looks as if we have seen our first alliance.
If Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer truly is a "king-maker" in this race, Ellison may very well end up being the king.
The instructions for FEC Form 2, Statement of Candidacy, say "The candidate must also simultaneously send a copy [of FEC Form 2] via facsimile machine or electronic mail to each opposing candidate. 11 CFR 400.20(b)(2)."
At the time Ellison filed, Jack Nelson-Pallmeyer and Martin Sabo were the only other candidates on file with the FEC. The FEC's help line recommended sending one to Martin Sabo even though he had announced his retirement.
You can read the rules here:

It doesn't surprise me that MDE didn't know the rules. One thing the Republicans continue to do is demostrate their inability to follow campaign rules and state laws governing those rules. They've been pinched more times for violations than Mary Carey at a Republican Convention.
Nice try St. Paul DFLer - please see the top post.
So, the problem is that the Ellison Campaign obeyed the rules too much? I guess they are too busy trying to obey the laws rather than examining the laws to see what the minimum is required of them.
I know this may be hard for Republicans to understand but there are some people who strive to really obey the laws and sometimes end up having to do more than they need to. (As opposed to only doing what you are only required to do.)
Waffle,
Oh, you mean those wonderful, go the extra mile dems like Charles Wilson in Ohio who couldn't even get the right amount of signatures on his nominating petition and was disqualified? http://www.swingstateproject.com/2006/02/oh06_bad_news_s.php
At times like this, I like to calm my nerves and remind myself that at least Wellstone is gone! :)
