MCCLUNG: MINNEAPOLIS "NEEDS LEADERS, AND NOT WHINERS"

I always told Mark Stenglein that the biggest mistake he made when running for Mayor was to hire Brian McClung to manage his campaign. McClung knows nothing about running a successful campaign in Minneapolis.
Timmy better dump this guy before the campaign season is in full swing...
McClung is EXACTLY right. Rybak and other "city leaders" (a description that is so far from accurate it's funny) refuse to take their heads from their back ends and fix the problem. Instead they whine about it and blame the state for lack of funding.
They've got the money to hire cops. What they don't have is the GUTS to stand up to the hundreds of little DFL constituencies in the city who defend their pet programs. These pet programs are what is causing their so-called lack of funding, not LGA.
What would be a good source of information if someone wanted to explore the truth or falsity of the claim that the city has parked lots of money in its neighborhood projects, at the expense of law enforcement funding?
I assume this is akin to the claim that the generic public entity always cuts those things most painful to its citizenry as a way of showing how important its funding is. Or is it more accurately termed as ED puts it, that the small fiefdoms have too much power?
Um...the city budget? Duh.
I'd agree with Pawlenty's comments about the boondoggle known as NRP. Where I disagree is having police and fire being the only priorities for the city. In my view public works (fixing potholes, keeping street lights operational) and having libraries open are what affect me more in my day to day life. I live on that evil north side. I do NOT feel scared of crime in my townhome association.
