I do have an idea of who this “Lynn” person is but, there’s a bigger point here. DFLers are acting like the whacked-out Moonbats these Republicans think we are right in the their living room(here on MDE). The sole purpose of this blog is to expose Democrats. It’s flying on auto-pilot now.

Let’s pull our heads out of collective asses and at the very least, go over to a DFL blog and duke this out and stop doing MDE’s work for him.

I won’t even attempt to explain the details of his argument (broadly, it’s about Louis Farrakhan and the definition of racism). You must read it for youself and form your own opinions.

The stunning thing about this piece is that the editor of the Minnesota Daily found the content of this piece to be “a genuine threat to the long-term safety and well-being of the Jewish people” and allowed a rebuttal to be printed simulataneous to the publication of Ellison’s piece. Read it! It’s on the bottom of the same page.

More questions for Ellison to answer. Why didn’t the 5th District DFL endorsing convention ask him about any of this?

There is really no defense for his actions.

He is a racist and should be defeated in the Primary.

In 1997, Ellison came out in support of Joanne Jackson. Jackson was the executive director of the Minneapolis Initiative Against Racism,
and was threatened with losing her job for saying “Jews are the most racist white people I know.” Ellison said that the board’s first
initiative against racism should “be directed at itself, or at least the 11 board members who voted to dismiss Joanne Jackson” for her

I have a problem with Ellison’s racist beliefs.

He is a former party chair, and he is considering bucking the endorsement? What does this say about the strength of the party if even the guy who ran it for six years laughs at it. If Mike Erlandson wants to help the Republicans, he should run.

The Republicans are trying to paint Keith Ellison as a raving Nation of Islam mouthpiece. The Democrats will see through it.

I remember a day when politics was debated on the policy level and not the personal level. All this chatter from pretend democrats makes me believe that the Republicans have already run out of substance to attack with, so now they are resorting to desperate measures.

I can’t wait to see Keith Ellison sworn in. Maybe I will send Ron Carey and Mike Erlandson sympathy baskets.

Good point, but I disagree. First of all, Bush is not well liked by any Democrat anywhere, is he?

Keith has proven he can bring people together and have real debate, discussion, and when it’s needed, compromise. It’s part of politics, and I don’t think there is anything about his legislative style that would make adversely affect his ability to govern well for the people of the 5th.

Plus, in November the Democrats will have control of the House, so I would think he’ll be very well received, being a Democrat and all…

4 candidates? Mike hasn’t announced his decision, and Ember was in all along saying she was running in the primary, so that makes three.

Mike and Ember have every right, like anyone, not to abide the endorsement and run in the primary. I spoke with her at the CD-5 convention, she feels it’s the right choice for her. I don’t think it makes her a bad Democrat or DFLer, and I personally like her, but I will not be voting for or supporting and candidates not endorsed by the party. She made her choice, others can make theirs, so will I, and in September we’ll see what happens.

Disagreement and respect are not mutually exclusive, are they?

Ellison may play well with the Bush-haters in Minneapolis, but how effective will he be in working with the rest of the House in bringing legislation and projects favorable to that city?

That is just not true, that’s why it’s a rumor. Target simply decided to enforce the no solicitations policy from which SA had been, up to then, exempted.

So how do you explain what’s going on with St Thomas right now? They want to enforce centuries old church traditions and rules, they are under attack for that. What about the rumors going around Mpls that the reason Target kicked the Salvation Army out of their stores is because SA doesn’t give benefits to unmarried partners of their employees, gay or straight.

If any of the conservative commenters here would actually just talk with Keith, they would see he holds all faiths in high regard and most certainly is not anti-semetic.

He, like anyone, is not defined by the every statement made by someone with whom he associated.

Pat Robertson comes to mind as an example on the national stage on the other side of the aisle. Just because Bush has associated with Pat, doesn’t mean I believe that Bush wants to assassinate Hugo Chavez, or that he thinks natural disasters are God’s will to trounce sinners.

As far as Ellison dropping out or Erlandson as an alternative, I think that ship has sailed. But who knows, maybe Mike can mount a challenge and surprise the pundits. Impossible to say, but Ellison’s momentum is undeniable.

The DFL is united behind Keith, those that know him respect and admire him as a responsible, faithful public servant. He is the endorsed candidate and I believe will be Minnesota’s next Congressman in the 5th district.

Come on, no serious lefties want to abolish religion. I was raised Catholic. While I consider myself to be agnostic, I really don’t care what people believe as long as they don’t try to conflate their church and our government. Give me a break.

Well, I’d have to say yes, actually they are. Republicans are acting like the Democrats of years ago. I want real conservatives in there.
