WILL MINNESOTA LET ENTENZA BUY AG OFFICE WITH QUAM’S MONEY?
By Michael B. Brodkorb | May 22, 2006
One of the worst kept secrets in Minnesota politics was that Matt Entenza plans to use millions of his wife's money to try to purchase the office of Attorney General. Well, just this past weekend, Entenza let us in on his little secret. (funny how he chose to do so when there was a strong likelihood that it would get buried and lost in the main stream media).
I found it laughable, his spin machine's attempt to make us believe he is a victim who has to bust the caps in order to get around the money that will come into Minnesota against him from outside groups. How ironic that the guy who tried to buy a DFL house majority in 2004 which resulted in a huge campaign finance violation fine is now worried about outside money.
But everyone knows that the real story of Entenza’s campaign finance announcement last weekend is a story that will plague him throughout the election because of the source of his money.
You see, Matt’s millions are, in fact, his wife Lois Quam's millions. And Quam's millions are embroiled in Minnesota's own "Enron-style" corporate scandal. According to a story just this past week on shareholder lawsuits against UnitedHealth Group execs., shareholders are suing because they claim executives were issued stock options that were backdated to days when the company's shares were unusually low to increase the recipients' profits once the options were exercised by executives such as Quam.
This is a developing story, and I encourage you to check back often as Entenza seeks to become Minnesota’s "corporate watch dog" and our state's "top-cop" with his wife's dirty money.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, the campaign finance complaints that the GOP tried to hang on Entenza after they lost 13 legislative seats were not illegal. The fines that were imposed in ’04 were for actions unrelated to Entenza and the ’04 campaign. There was nothing illegal about his donation to his caucus.
Do you think if you say there was enough people will listen? How’s that working with saying the war is going well?

What is that I smell…fear or bulls##t? What’s it matter – they both smell the same.

Edward hits the nail on the head. Mike S is either totally afraid that this scandal is going to hang around Entenza’s neck and be a like an anchor on his whole campaign or Mike S is totally full of bulls##t with his Entenza spin. I think it is a little of both.

We love rich guys and their money. Even Bill McGuire’s money from his UHG stock.
But not if the rich guy is a DFLer. No no no. Then it is all dirty money that should not be used.
Ask me, you are just scared of a rich DFLer who is willing to put his money where his mouth is.

I get it now. Money in politics is a problem for Republicans if the money is in the hands of Democrats. Thanks for clearing that up.

No. Dirty money in the hands of Democrats is a problem for Republicans. So is the rank hypocrisy of the Left on this issue.
This will be a real problem for Entenza unless he spends so much dirty money that it overwhelms the fact that he is using dirty money.
How ironic.

But Bill McGuire’s dirty money in the hands of Republicans…Tim Pawlenty…President Bush…that is ok?
Talk about hypocricy Dumbing It Down. Perhaps those who live in glass houses should not throw stones…

Don’t expect Attorney General Entenza to get too lathered up about high health care costs or excessive compensation for health care executives. In fact, don’t expect Entenza too get too lathered up about anything except promoting Matt Entenza’s political career.

Have you seen the Entenza tax returns? I believe there are two wage earners in that househould.
Do you know for a fact that Matt is not spending his money?
When is the GOP sending their “dirty money” back to Maguire?

Anyone else notice that all the State GOP has done is talk about how bad Entenza is because he is rich, but nothing about their own guy?
Seems to me that the only ones showing “fear” here are the MN GOP.

I heard from a good source that in a past session Matt Entenza had sponsored a bill to prohibit killing animals for any reason, which for good reason got nowhere in the legislature.
Can you imagine shutting down meat packing plants across the state, banning hunting and fishing, etc.?
Is Matt Entenza nuts or what? What a looney idea!
