MN GOP STATEMENT ON BECKY LOUREY’S SELECTION OF TIM BAYLOR
By Michael B. Brodkorb | May 31, 2006
I love the "Hail Mary" reference.
##
St. Paul- Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman Ron Carey today issued the following statement regarding Becky Lourey's selection of Tim Baylor as her running mate.
"In spite of today's Hail Mary pass from Becky Lourey, the race for governor will continue to be a clear choice between four liberals and one common sense leader, Governor Pawlenty.
"When it comes to cracking down on illegal immigration, reforming education, protecting traditional marriage and opposing job killing tax increases, Governor Pawlenty represents a clear contrast to the tired liberal policies of Becky Lourey, Steve Kelley, Mike Hatch and Peter Hutchinson."

Wait, did I miss something…? Did T-Paw actually pass any immigration reform legislation or get the marriage amendment on the ballot?

Last I checked Pawlenty supported a job killing tax increase.

“Last I checked Pawlenty supported a job killing tax increase.”
And we all know how much the Democrats hate tax increases.

Nice deflect, but Pawlenty is being really slimy about his role in taxes. At his event yesterday, he said that he had never passed a statewide tax. That let him off the hook for the Hennepin County Tax he signed, the tobacco tax he signed, and the role he has played in sending property taxes up for all of us.
Nice work Tim. I am sure your base will understand that you MEANT to be no new taxes, but in the end, you were willing to settle for no new STATEWIDE taxes. People can still choose to not smoke, live in Hennepin County or live in homes. That would protect them from the taxes you signed.

Remember when Pawelenty signed the tobacco and Hennepin county tax increases?
Yeah. I am sure the voters won’t either. I mean, it is only the state’s most populous county, and 20 percent of the people who smoke who will feel these new taxes.
