MN GOP: THEY SAID IT! ROCHESTER DFL “ICON†A.M. (SANDY) KEITH ON GOVERNOR TIM PAWLENTY
By Michael B. Brodkorb | June 8, 2006
"And Rochester DFL icon A.M. (Sandy) Keith, a former state senator, lieutenant governor and chief justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court, has already swung his support to Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty. 'I love the guy; he can stay at my house if he wants to,' said Keith, now executive director of the Rochester Downtown Alliance. Pawlenty, Keith said, has done more for Rochester than any governor since DFLer Rudy Perpich.” (Conrad deFiebre, “DFL Poised To Meet In Rochester,” Star Tribune, June 8, 2006)

IF anyone wants to read the whole article, they would see that the sentence BEFORE this, Dave Bishop announces that he will probably vote DFL this year.
But who needs both sides of a story?

GOP Strategist, go to bed. Your endless comments are annoying and bring no value. Your hatred is not appreciated here.

Hey “DFL” strategist, I’ll take that trade, KEITH
for BISHOP any day of the week ! Those who know
both of them know that while they are both highly
intelligent and men of integrity, that while
KEITH is polite and a real gentleman, BISHOP is a
boor, impatient, pompous and was one of the most
verbose legislators in his 20 years at the capitol !! YOU LOSE AGAIN !!!!

Yep. I too will accept this trade. Sandy Kieth was last relevant in the 1960s. Dave Bishop has actually been a player in politics in the 21st century.
To find another Democrat in Rochester who would say the same about T-Paw, Conrad deFiebre would have needed a shovel and a flashlight.

A.M. Keith has contributed 8 times to John Kline, once to Mark Kennedy, once to Norm Coleman, and once to the MN Senate Republican Caucus in the past three cycles. I don’t think he’s a Democrat anymore.
Sorry,
Jim H.

“GOP” Strategist said that Sandy Keith was last relevant in the 1960s. Once again, he is demonstrating what an ignornamus he is. Sandy Keith is a retired Chief Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court, retiring circa 1997. Prior to that, he was blamed by Rudy Perpich for Perpich’s loss because the Supreme Court ruled that Arne Carlson could replace Grunseth on the ballot. If that’s not relevant, I don’t know what is. Maybe your world would be a little brighter if your head wasn’t stuck in your…

Sandy Keith retired in 1997
Rudy Perpich lost in 1990.
Please let me know which of those events happened in the 21st century.
On the supreme court, he was one of nine justices making decisions. He didn’t allow Grunseth on the ballot. The Supreme Court did.
As for his solo poltical career. He was in the Senate from 1959-1963. He was Lt. Governor from 1963-1967. I would be willing to say he was relevant during the 1960’s but, oh wait. I already did.

Jim H.-
If a liberal Democrat like Sandy Keith has left the DFL for the GOP, what does that say about the status of the DFL?
June 9th, 2006 at 12:04 pm
Not wanting to answer for Jim, but I would say it says about as much as Dean Johnson, Sheila Kiscaden, Judi Dutcher and all the others who have crawled out from under the Republicans ever shrinking tent.

It looks like “dfl” strategist is getting hot
and bothered over nothing! TYPICAL HACK!
Speaking of Dean Johnson, read Dennis Anderson’s
Outdoors column in today’s STRIB and you’ll see a great example of the LIAR and CONNIVER DEAN
JOHNSON has become since he joined the DFL !!!
(It’s buried in the middle of the SPORTS SECTION)
June 9th, 2006 at 12:33 pm
Oh,”dfl” I almost forgot to ask !! HAS COLLING
RESIGNED HIS JOB AT THE STATE CAPITOL YET ?
June 9th, 2006 at 1:27 pm
Really? They burried Dennis Anderson in the SPORTS SECTION? What next? Lori Sturdevant being hidden on the opinion page?
Dean Johnson may be a liar and a conniver, but he soundly beat the governor and the house on their keystone projects this year, the gay marriage amendment and further abortion reforms. In addition to that, the House had to follow him to the $1 billion line to get a bonding bill passed. I will let you call the Lt. Col. and lutheran pastor a liar and a conniver all you want. Democrats have another term we choose to use. HIGHLY EFFECTIVE.
If he has to lie and connive to keep that trash off the books, I don’t think a lot of democrats would complain.

“Not wanting to answer for Jim, but I would say it says about as much as Dean Johnson, Sheila Kiscaden, Judi Dutcher and all the others who have crawled out from under the Republicans ever shrinking tent. -GOP Stategist”
I’m assuming you’re not really a member of the GOP, but in response to your comment, what kind of shape are these former Republicans in right now? Two of them are no longer in office, and hopefully in November the third will finally be gone. I think Mr. Keith left the DFL like everyone does who gets out of politics, starts making some money, and decides they don’t want to pay all of it in taxes to the government. That’s when they move to the Grand Old Party!!

“GOP” Strategist said that Sandy Keith was active in the 1960s, implying that he has been irrelevant ever since. Obviously his service on the Supreme Court (I thought Democrats worshipped Suprme Court Justices) made him very relevant. He is also relevant today.
GOP also claimed the GOP tent is shrinking. Well if Sandy Keith has joined that tent, isn’t it actually growing.
Next, will GOP Strategist will be teaching us liberal math 1 + 1 = 3 ???

As for Deanie Weenie Johnson, it’s too bad that in order to be effective as a Democrat (according to GOP Strategist), you have to be a liar, to fellow pastors no less.
