JOHNSON: ENTENZA NEEDS TO EXPLAIN HOW HE AVOIDS CONFLICT

By Michael B. Brodkorb | June 16, 2006

"The first real fireworks in the state attorney general's race went off Thursday with a charge of a potential conflict of interest.

Republican candidate Jeff Johnson, a state representative from Plymouth, said that DFL candidate Matt Entenza, a state representative from St. Paul, needs to explain how he would avoid a conflict over his wife's status as a top executive for a UnitedHealth Group company.

UnitedHealth is being scrutinized for the cashing in of stock options by company executives, and lawsuits have been filed alleging back-dating. Entenza's wife, Lois Quam, CEO of a subsidiary company, Ovations, reported receiving $30.8 million in options, but no allegations of impropriety have been made against her."
