If you really cared about the police, you would allow law enforcement to take in the illegals.

What the heck would I know about it? I only have 3 relatives who are Minneapolis cops ans are disgusted with both Rybak and the lackey he brought in named McmANUS.

Sigh. Most of these comments are completely off the issue of the post.

Should cops help detain illegal immigrants? It’s not a clear cut issue, as the USAToday article admits:

The Major Cities Chiefs Association said in recommendations to President Bush and Congress that police have long worked with federal agents to pursue illegal immigrants suspected of crimes. The group said helping identify those suspected only of being in the USA illegally could backfire.

Personally, I’m apt to agree with the POLICE. If Republicans care about reducing crime/catching criminals they will support Rybak on this one.

If Pawlenty had a record to run on, I would be more concerned.

Bankrupting our schools, skimping on infrastructure, and raising our property, tobacco and Hennepin County taxes would not be my first choice for a record to seek re-election on. Crime and the number of unemployed Minnesotans are up. The number of teachers in our schools is down. The saftey net created by the Minnesota Miracle has been sold out from under us, and our economy is growing slower than the national average. Gridlock in the legislature desperatley cried for leadership from a governor unable to provide it, and an agenda of xenophobia withered on the vine and the real work of the state remains on the backburner.

If ANY of the four candidates couldn’t beat Pawlenty straight up, it would truly be a sign at how apathetic the voters of this state have become.

Re-read the post. It asks where the other candidates stand re: enforcement of sanctuary laws. Pawlenty has a position on it, the other candidates apparently don’t. To the extent the other candidates haven’t enunciated a position yet, then it makes perfectly good sense to lump them together, as Carey has. It’s not a diabolical scheme, as you and the Beav believe it to be.

Look, I see what the Beav is getting at here. Michael and the Minnesota Right Wing Noise Machine (a group that he is now once again an official member of), are deliberately saying “Hutchinson, Hatch, Lourey And Pentel” in order to muddy the electoral waters.

The DFL needs to understand this. The majority of Minnesotans are going to vote against Governor Pawlenty in November. In order to win, Hatch will need to EARN the votes of about 45% of all voters. If the majority of Minnesotans do not want Governor Pawlenty, they only have one real conduit for change and that is Mike Hatch.

Grouping together “Hutchinson, Hatch, Lourey And Pentel” is just another example of the GOP’s efforts to distract and divide.

Uh, “Beav,” since when did you guys care about winning by plurality? Seems to me I remember Bill Clinton winning the Presidency twice by plurarlity. I didn’t hear any whining from you guys then. Regardless, it’s not nor has it ever been a one-on-one fight; races for the executive office never are. If your party can’t figure out how to neutralize the effect of third parties, that’s your problem. Nevertheless, this will not be an election for the ages, and its result will be a second term for T-Paw.

No matter how much you say it this is a 3 way race. If Democrats can’t figure out what to do about that tough. Last I checked 2 parties have elected governors in the last 20 years, and the DFL isn’t one of them.

Tim Penny lost in 2002 because he alligned himself with the Democrats on this issue. The Republicans will try to frame this issue the way they did in 2002. Oh by the way if and when Tim Pawlenty gets re-elected he will do absulutly nothing in regards to the issue, or should I say non-issue.

There are going to be a number of democrats who vote for Hutchinson this fall. Hatch isn’t all that popular among democrats. That was evident at the convention.

My election predictions:

Klobuchar wins the Senate, democrats win both houses, and Pawlenty wins the governor – with Hutchinson getting over 10% of the vote in the general.

Hatch is going to have particular difficulty with getting the gay community to vote for him in the general election.

I find it interesting that you keep repeating “Hutchinson, Hatch, Lourey And Pentel” in an effort to group together the multiples of people trying to oust your boy Pawlenty. Why not add Sue Jeffers to the list?

Get this straight Michael. This is a one-on-one fight, the one all of Minnesota has been waiting for: Pawlenty V. Hatch. It will be one for the ages.

You know the only way Pawlenty can win is to have the vote split up and hope he sneaks away with a plurality (again). No matter how many times you repeat the phrase “Hutchinson, Hatch, Lourey and Pentel,” it doesn’t change the fact that this is a one-on-one race and your guy is going down!
