State government has attempted to induce individuals to enter the nursing program by offering tuition rebates and loans but to no avail. This should be no surprise because the market does not manufacture demand — it either exists or it does not. Of course, in the liberal mindset we have no one to blame but ourselves for the importation of foreigners to become nurses. After all, if us unhealthy gluttons weren’t placing an ever-increasing demand on the health care system, then we wouldn’t be experiencing a shortage of (and thus an increase in the demand for) health care workers and nurses.

Recruiting where-ever you have to go is normal. And the term “headhunter” is standard in the business.

A little debating tip for Waffle. If you’re trying to win an arguement, don’t call the President “shrub”. It usually only pleases those who already agree with you. I’ve learned not to randomly throw out reminders about Bill Clintons rape of Juanita Broaddrick unless that’s the subject.

You know Mike, I’ve just about had it with these
DFL hypocrites regarding “Budget cuts” the DFL
party has had control of the STATE SENATE for the
last 34 STRAIGHT YEARS! If they felt these “cuts” were so terrible why did they end up
going along with them !!!!!!!

Hey everybody read the WHOLE ARTICLE. HATCH IS
SUCH A TOTAL PHONEY! He criticizes the CEO of
UNITED HEALTH when one of his own running mates
(MATT ENTENZA) is self financing his own campaign
WITH THE VERY SAME STOCK OPTION MONEY ! Also he
asks for the recapture of offshore income,A TAX
INCREASE,and he tries to decieve the public into
thinking that this is all that he has to do to
finance the 100’s of million in new spending that
he proposes in the article !

I don’t think Michael’s comprehension skills are poor at all. It’s intellectual honesty that’s on display here (or not).

Nationwide nursing shortage means recruiting overseas to fill positions now. Bringing in legal immigrants means hoops to jump through. People who help employers fill critical jobs are called headhunters.

This should all be familiar to an intelligent, business-connected writer – even one who is a political zealot. That he affects to misunderstand the comment speaks volumes.

This is truly pathetic and another example of your poor comprehension skills. Your SAT verbals must have just sucked. That or (GASP) you are deliberately twisting and misquoting something for political advantage.

I read the article but even before I did I knew the he was referring to the fact that with T-Pay slashing and burning his way through the higher education systems of this state we actually have a shortage of nurses and have to go outside Minnesota to get qualified health care workers. Add to that the cuts to higher ed programs from Shrub and a recruiter gets pushed out beyond the United States.

Fund higher education, especially those high-overhead programs like nursing, and employers will not have to spend so much money recruiting qualified employees because we will actually ahve a government devoted to helping make people qualified.
