TWO PROTESTERS ARRESTED AT CHENEY EVENT
By Michael B. Brodkorb | June 26, 2006
"The group was not only protesting Cheney's visit, but also the war in Iraq and U.S. funds to Israel and Colombia, said protester Jon Plotz.
Cuthbertson and Heberle were arrested after they were warned several times not to approach the site. Each tried to paddle a raft to shore so they could speak with Cheney. A sheriff's boat intercepted the men, but not before Cuthbertson jumped into the bay and tried to swim toward the reception
The men were taken to the Mound police department, cited for public nuisance and released, said Hennepin County spokesperson Julie Anderson.
Plotz claimed the group succeeded in its protest by showing the lengths authorities will go to prevent citizens from speaking with Cheney.
'We sent a message to Dick Cheney that he is not welcome in Minnesota,' said protester Meredith Aby." Source: Star Tribune, June 26, 2006

O.K. – You just can't walk or swim up to the president or vice-president and start a conversation.
Jackasses.

That is a dumb stunt. This kind of reminds of when a wacked out group “Fed Up Queers” demonstrated when Rudy Guiliani spoke to the 1999 Log Cabin Republican convention.

But Cheney IS welcome here in Minnesota. He can stay at my house any day he’d like. My kids will shine his shoes, I will get his suits cleaned and pressed, and I’ll even let my wife . . .
Well, okay, I really, really like Cheney, but I probably shouldn’t make unseemly promises here . . .
Let’s just say, if I ever had the opportunity to vote for Mr. Cheney for president, I would do so.

How long until Republicans try and pass a Republican protest bill that, like the funeral protest bill, would make it illegal to protest within 500 feet of despised world leaders?

“The protest was successful.” I used to be a big W supporter, but after I saw that hippy swimming for Dick, I decided to throw my lot in with Hillary. It was very persuasive.

“ps He swims like Ted Kennedy”
That means he swims pretty good. Especially when trying to get away from someone he just killed.
