MAN WHO CALLED NEW YORK CITY “HYMIE TOWN†CAMPAIGNS FOR KEITH ELLISON
By Michael B. Brodkorb | June 30, 2006
"In town to help stump for state Rep. Keith Ellison's congressional campaign, the Rev. Jesse Jackson put out a call Thursday night for at least 100 people to organize a Twin Cities chapter of the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition.
'When we are connected, we have power,' Jackson told a gathering of about 50 area pastors and community members at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in north Minneapolis." Source: Star Tribune, June 30, 2006

In 1984 while running for president, Jesse Jackson was caught refering to New York City as "Hymie Town."
Hymie is a derogative term for a Jew. The origins of the word are believed to come from Hymie, a nickname for Hyman.
Louis Farrakahn also endorsed Jesse Jackson's campaign for president in 1984. Source: Anti-Defamation League

"Today, Jackson will attend a rally for Ellison beginning at 12:30 p.m. at North Commons Park, 1801 James Av. N. If it rains, the event will be moved into the nearby North High School gym." Source: Star Tribune, June 30, 2006

And a guy with a cocaine problem is our president. What is your point?

Ain’t it just grand when one racist helps another?
Kinda like Hitler come to help stump for Hess.
Wonder if the Red Star will manage to put in paper how divisive both these inviduals are? Doubtful…
Its also worth noting that JJ never apologized for making those comments.
Ain’t it good to hate whitey!!!

“And a guy with a cocaine problem is our president. What is your point?”
Do you have documentation for that? What’s your source?
June 30th, 2006 at 11:40 AM
There is plenty of documentation on it, but that is not important. My point is, the President is allowed to say he made mistakes in his past and move on, but Keith Ellison and Jesse Jackson are not.
At least, it is a double standard, and at worst, you are proving the stereotypes true about republicans and their distaste for minorities.
I’m just saying, if you want the public to stop thinking you are the party of xenophobic criminals, perhaps it is time you all stop BEING xenophobic criminals.

Just the facts must be a play on words. A simple internet search will see that Jesse Jackson apologized almost immediatly. At that time had a 20 year record of working for equality side by side with jewish people. It was accepted and a fault in his head, not his heart.
I have yet to read anything that makes Keith a racist. Angry young man- sure. ALL evidence points to the fact that Keith grew up and channeled that into a productive career and liberal voting record.
The Republicans got a lot of balls to anyone a racist.

Uh, that should be “to call anyone a racist”.
The bigot has carried them into the White House seven times since 1968.

“There is plenty of documentation on it, but that is not important.”
You know, all those looney lefty blogs.
C’mon, that was a very weak answer to a solid question.
It never ceases to amaze me how these lefties will defend anything a Democrat does but will hold to fiction like the coke thing when its a republican.

The primary reason there are few articles about it is because the media allowed the president to write it off as misadventures of youth. We accepted the standard that youth brings education by trial and error.
I point this out to show how dastardly the game has become when people like you now demand that all politicians, be they democrats OR democrats, live puritain lives until the day they are elected and then expect the corrupting forces of power not to turn even the most perfect human a little rotten at the core.
I like the fact that Keith Ellison has made his share of mistakes. From the point he first took office, he has been nothing short of a great representative for the people of Minnesota, and the mistakes he made in his youth have helped him better round out the knowledge base from which he thinks.
Anyone who has never made a mistake has probably also never made an effort.

Roving Reporter, put your F***ing tin foil hat away and stay off of the Daily Ko(ok)s. You brag constantly about how independent you are yet continue to repeat the lies from such sources. Your vile is really not welcome around here so bug off.

Please list one lie from my last post.
Thank you.

Keith Ellison chose another racist in Jesse Jackson to help his campaign. While Jesse worked as a waiter, he spit in the food of white people.
Sounds like something the nation of islam would approve of.

The issue here isn’t that we should accept the reality that candidates have made mistakes in the past, because they have mistakes and we accept that. The issue here is that liberals distinguish between the type of mistakes we should accept. If the mistake is a moral indiscretion, such as marital infidelity or drug use, then in the liberal world, we should ignore that. After all, we are told, who are we to judge? BUT if it’s the candidate associating with racist organizations or making racist statements a la David Duke, Strom Thurmond, Trent Lott, et. al. then that individual (rightly) is subject to the highest level of scrutiny — unless they happen to belong to the Democratic Party (e.g. Robert Byrd and Keith Ellison). If they’re a Democrat who’s made racist statements and associated with racist groups, well, then, in the liberal world, that’s OK because they’ve just made mistakes and their motives are pure anyway, so who are we to judge?
Your double standard is B.S. and we are calling you guys on it. You guys are concerned about racism only when it benefits your party’s interests, which means attacking Republicans on the issue and ignoring it when Democrats are involved. No amount rationalizing will change that fact.

Keith Ellison realizes that being involved with a racist group like the nation of islam would be political suicide, so he is gently distancing himself from them and playing ignorant about his knowledge of their racist ways. I wish more people had the ability to see through him.

I am curious. Does calling all Republicans racists count as an expression of racism? It’s most certainly bigotry.
