Dumbing – If this is what you guys consider stunning and news worthy, it’s no wonder the political arena in America has fallen to such meaningless tabloid depths. Get a life. Better yet, get a clue and start talking about issues that matter.

This is typical republican fear mongering and completely absurd. If you don’t like someone, associate them with terrorists.

Maybe you’re just a yes man and have a problem with people who have problems with authority. I personally find yes men reprehensible and unworthy of leadership. Sometimes I call them lemings, sometimes I call them republicans but the only thing worse is people who can’t cope with reality without turning every issue into a simple binary decision.

Apparently Ellison can’t can’t even keep his own house in order. I noticed that there appeared to be followup letter on the vegetation complaint. I recall in 1992 there was a publicised sweep on my Longfellow neighborhood. I recieved a “paint the garage” order. It rained constantly that summer. As I recall I called and recieved two extensions from the inspector. I never recieved a follow letter. When I finally completed the painting I called the building inspector to say it was done and thank him for the time extensions. There were no fines levied. The point of this is that if your proactive and work with the building inspectors they tend to be easy to work with. It sounds like Ellison ignored the initial letters.

I checked the public records (online) on the building permits on the Ellison house. There is
a 2002 plumbing permit that is still open. You can find it on the city of Minneapolis website, search building permits and do a search on the Ellison house address. As I recall this was around the time that city council member Steve Cramer (?) was was being investigated/indicted for accepting free plumbing work from the unions (as I recall the story.) There might be a perfectly plausible explaination for the still open plumbing permit on Ellison’s house. It would be interesting to hear an explaination.

For coincidence, I had a minor part in the Ellison, with my website http://soliah.com cited on powerlineblog.com and a Star Tribune article. A few days later I recieved a letter from the from Minneapolis building inspections saying that my my public sidewalk is substandard with an estimated repair cost of $300 to $450. Hmm!!!!!!! I did a bit of checking and my nieghborhood was sceduled months earlier for a once a decade sidewalk inspection and repair. Even Kieth Ellison could handle this because, if I you nothing the Minneapolis will bid out the repair. If there is a “scam” it is the requirement that any contractor doing it has to pay the “prevailing wage” which basically means union scale. With this requirement the city cost is substantailly less because they basically use a “reverse assembly line” where specialised crews move down the line.

Anyway, I was proactive when I recieved the sidewalk letter with it’s curious timing.

Hey Chris, look at it this way. Yuo got your president that never had to live by the same rules anyone else did. His privlidge got him in certain colleges, made sure he stayed out of Vietnam, got him out of AWOL charges from protecting San Padre Island, got him business deal after business deal after failing at everything, got im to the governors seat and then the Presidency.

Brian, I talked to President Bush today and I verified that he is spying on you with microwave radiation. You better get out the Reynolds wrap and make a hat out of it or they will find out everything that is in your brian.

Apparently it doesn’t bother any of you dems that the guy you want to elect to Congress and pass laws for the rest of us to live under doesn’t want to live under even the most simplest laws we have to maintain order in our society. Ostrow hasn’t proven he can do that either. Barb Johnson ate him alive on the council and then took him out. He’s never been a player and I wish he was a bigger factor in this race so that his council record could come under examination. He’s the most lackluster non-producer on that council. Again, in a city as liberal as Minneapolis, he lost out to a conservative.
Congress is much more cut throat than the city council of Minneapolis, and little Pauly Ostrow would be eaten alive out there. Nice guys in Washington come home and run for Mayor.

Which he can forget about ever doing.

You know, when Jeff Johnson put an addition on his house in 2001, he flaunted city inspectors by constructing unapproved work and broke rules requiring permits being on site.

He received a number of visits resulting in “NOT APPROVED” statuses.

How can someone who has such a complete disregard for the law be considered for public office?

Have you looked at the personal affairs of those guys in DC?
Most of their personal lives are in rambles. Half of our members don’t have families, and don’t own real property (a house that you have to upkeep). Most live in condos or have relatives living in their homes.

Waffletushie – why is Ostrow whiney? Is he more an “urban hack” than Ellison? Is making fun of “Up With People” the best you can do to distract from the fact your candidate can’t get his act together to pay fines, file paperwork and apparently attend to his home?

Sen. Linda Higgins (DFL-Minneapolis) and Rep. Keith Ellison (DFL-Minneapolis) have recently introduced legislation (HF1923; SF 1727) to require a stronger state response to the problem of lead-poisoned children….

To be fair, MDE, the City of Minneapolis has decided that the way to solve crime in this area is to put on a new coat of paint on houses and garages. They recently went through issuing these things as a way to reduce crime and increase fine money to buy more cops. A friend of mine lives not far from Ellison and he was told he had one month to build a new garage. Apparently crime will then go down.

(By the way, the friend is complying. Went and got a loan and hired a contractor instead of selling his house in this crime-infested neighborhood.)

Speaking as someone who has a brand-new sun roof on my porch …. that’s what I’m calling the hole …. and no money to repair it …. this actually makes me like Keith even more.

I want someone REAL in Congress. Not an overpaid political synchophant who spent the last twelve years kissing his bosse’s ass. Not some chirpy, ballroom dancer who thinks that touring with “Up With People” gave them real world perspective and not some whiney urban hack who couldn’t even wrangle 7 out of 13 votes to keep their leadership position.

Man, when are the notes from his grade school teacher coming out? I have received those “clean up the alley” warning letters before. I have a creeping vine and volunteer tree sprouts along my garage. I wipe them all out about once a year, and it takes care of it. The inspector cited me before I got to it; there’s no penalty; you just deal with it.
