JANECEK: HATCH’S SYMPATHY PLAY MAY HAVE BACKFIRED

By Michael B. Brodkorb | July 26, 2006

"PIM co-publisher, Janecek, thinks Hatch's sympathy play may have backfired. Now that the paper has been attacked, the Star Tribune is now in the position where it almost has to hunker down and discern the answers to the questions that were the crux of the email. Those questions are: How did Hatch learn Entenza was after him? Did Hatch, as the widely rumored story at the Capitol goes, set up a 'sting' whereby he had someone pose as a researcher with the Chicago opposition research firm to call Entenza with some information in an attempt to determine that it was Entenza who hired the firm?

Alternatively, if the Star Tribune backs down and doesn’t pursue these questions, Republicans will discern a strong message here: To avoid tough questions, obfuscate the real issues with a complaint to the Minnesota News Council."  Source: The Politics In Minnesota Weekly Report, July, 26 2006

She lurched uncontrollably into the truth this time!

    Yawn. Echo… echo… echo…

    No new news.

Brian, are you hearing the wind blow through your ears? (Sorry, I couldn’t resist the echo comment.)

I can’t stand Hatch – and think that if he’s trying to use the power of his office to intimidate the press, he’s totally out in left field. However I read the complaint – and if DJ Tice was ordering the reporters to ask the questions about the daughter and her boyfriend and about the speculation that the car was located at a place known for where men go for to find anonymous sex with other men. Well that’s not investigative journalism, that’s just gratuitous dirt digging. Now the people who support this one were furious when the Strib got the motel receipt for Jon Grunseth spending time with Tamara Taylor.

The complaint also explained why this and the Morgan Grams thing was different. The Morgan Grams thing can be compared to the incident where Hatch’s daughters were arrested. It can’t be compared to this one – since in this case, Hatch’s daughter wasn’t arrested.

    Eva,

You’re right although the complaint does not address Hatch’s hipocrisy about Morgan Grams. It’s interesting that the guy who called for an investigation into how Morgan was treated by Sheriffs now says his daughters are off limits after the rather interesting treatment they received after assaulting cops and vandalizing cop cars in Chicago.

Poor Hatch. Governance by lawsuit. It works when you’re AG, but not as governor. That angry midget is going to get stomped by Pawlenty, then he’ll return to the private sector where he’ll hold no influence over anyone except his paralegals.

Does anybody here really believe that some strings weren’t pulled by the Democrat Daley
machine to get the HATCH sisters off the hook ?
Don’t you think that was one of the reasons ENTENZA hired a CHICAGO investigator ? And Eva,
I’ll ask you this: why did HATCH mention TICE
when TICE’S name WASN’T even ON the E-MAIL that
    was sent to HIM?

    A correction is required.

In order to “back-fire”, one must actually have something in the barrel with which to volley towards your opponent. then in the course of fire, it would return upon the one pulling the trigger, as it were.

Hatch has nothing to shoot with at the media.

“That boy is loaded with blanks”

  9. Eva Young Says:

Well I think it’s fair to ask Hatch to produce the Tice email. I still think Hatch is easily beatable, and focusing on his daughters isn’t the way to beat him. Hatch will be defeated because Hutchinson will pull significantly from him during the general election.
