DSCC PRESS RELEASE AGAINST KENNEDY FALLS SHORT
By Michael B. Brodkorb | August 9, 2006
"There's no explicit claim there that Pawlenty's remark was about Kennedy, and this edition of 'Is That a Fact?' would not appear if the entire press release had been as precise.
But at least four times in the press release, the DSCC crossed the line and characterized Pawlenty's remarks as specific to Kennedy. There's the headline: 'Pawlenty to Mark Kennedy: 'You're a Weenie.' '
Then the subhead: 'MN's GOP Governor Slams Makeover Mark for Superficially Distancing Himself From Bush.'
Then the quotes that Singer attributed to himself in the press release: 'Mark's makeover is so outrageous even his Republican friends can't stand it anymore,' and 'Pawlenty is right to call Kennedy out.'" Source: Star Tribune, August 9, 2006

You are right, the DSCC overreached on this one.
Pawlenty called people LIKE Kennedy a weenie.
He never specifically called Kenendy a weenie by name.
That being said, Mark Kennedy is the epitome of the weenie that Tim Pawlenty described.

Or, how about all the breaking news on Ritchie? I seem to recall that was destined to be HUGE NEWS before the media totally ignored it.

Yes… “I predict Ritchie will be explaining this to the press by the end of the week” is what I remember.
“Weenie” is harsh… over the line of appropriate behavior, I’d say.
