HATCH WON’T SUPPORT ENDORSED CANDIDATE FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL
By Michael Brodkorb | August 14, 2006
"And Mike Hatch, the current attorney general who is the DFL-endorsed candidate for governor, said through a spokeswoman that he would not personally endorse any of the three Democratic candidates for attorney general." Source: Pioneer Press, August 13, 2006
It seems that Hatch's opinion of Kelley hasn't improved in the last few weeks:
"[Mike] Hatch's praise of candidates [for attorney general] stopped short of including Steve Kelley, a three-term legislator who was a candidate for governor earlier this year." Source: MPR, July 20, 2006

First, all kids must say the pledge.
Now, all endorsed candidates have to be friends.
You sure do seem to be a big fan of forced consensus.

Why would he? I’m sure his uncontrolled temper didn’t think past using Mattson to knock Entenza out.
If he had thought ahead, I’m sure he would have realized that he would need to eventually support one of the candidates, and that the one he drug into the race might not be able to beat the other DFL’ers or Jeff Johnson.

Wait a minute MDE, this can’t possibly be.
You just posted a press release from the Kelley campaign saying he was excited to be part of the DFL endorsed team and that the DFL is unified.
Now you are reporting that Hatch is refusing to support the endorsed candidate?
Which is it? Is the DFL unified behind this team, or is Hatch snubbing the endorsement now that he no longer has to go before the party and ask for support.
Perhaps Kelley can explain for us what he meant in that press release since Hatch doesn’t support him.

Roving (who needs his own blog):
Forced consensus is bad because you can’t tell if people really mean it. Pointing out a lack of voluntary consensus is good because it reveals what people are really thinking.
If people don’t agree with the pledge of allegiance (on ideological grounds rather than religious grounds), we should know that. If Hatch is feuding with an endorsed candidate in his own party, it is important to note.
Accusing MDE of “forced consensus” is a nice quip for a Jon Stewart wanna-be, but it should not be confused with insightful political analysis.

I wonder if Mike Hatch remembers his quote to the Red Wing Republican Eagle from July 21st…
“‘If I want to be CEO of the state, I better be CEO of a ticket and that meant you go out and recruit some people,’ Hatch said in an interview with the Republican Eagle.”
Seems as if the DFL ‘Board of Directors’ and the CEO aren’t on the same page. Wonder what the shareholders think?

What is insightful about demanding that all endorsed candidates support each other. I know republicans don’t agree with the primary process, and that is fine if that is how you want to do it, but I take offense at people who think like that implying that people cn the other side of the aisle should do so as well.

But RR, all those Republican candidates just talk it over with the delegates, do a lot of soul searching, and step aside for the best man. They don’t need a primary because they are so united.

Jealous?

Jealous of people who follow the leader, no matter where he goes? Hardly.
I can’t believe any true Republican supports picking Americans off the street, and shipping them out of the country to be tortured.
I can’t believe any true Republican approves of a President who thinks he is above the law.
Yet Kennedy, Kline, and Coleman all march to the tune being piped. Kennedy 97%, voting directly against the interests of Minnesotans.
United, but going off the cliff… Republicans need to wake up about unity. I’ll take the other bus, thank you very much.

It’s not poison, man, it’s just bad acid . . .

Its OK, Lawrence. Just sit in a safe place and take some deep breaths. Turn the lights down a bit. Relax.
Next time you attend a Republican fundraiser, tend your bottle closer.

Bri-anna, Anyone who would make this innane statement is beyond all help.
